Very rare SuperEight Deluxe 7-passenger Sedan. Reported to be oneof only 865 ever produced! A host of wonderful, factory appointedoptions and showing only 72,000 miles! A very solid example andtruly a time capsule with its original condition! Just gorgeous!After World War II, most manufacturers fulfilled the auto hungrypublic's desire for new automobiles with continuations of thepre-war body designs. It was far too expensive to retool theequipment, so it would be a couple of years for most companies tointroduce new models. Packard introduced a new smoother design, andmore rounded body in 1946, and streamlined it even further with acompletely fender-less look by 1948, referred to as the 22ndSeries. Sales were swift for Packard throughout the model lines forpost-war buyers, but some examples were far rarer than others. Oneof those models was the Series 2271- a Super Deluxe Eight Sedan atan original cost of $3,850. With a 141" wheelbase, elegantlytrimmed inside, larger 327ci engine with oil-bath air cleaner, andseating for seven passengers! It is reported that only 865 unitswere ever produced! Finished in gorgeous Agate Blue Metallic overall original Blue Cloth interior, it remains one of the mostoriginal examples we have ever seen! Powered by its original,numbers correct 327ci Straight 8 producing 145 horsepower mated toa 3-speed column-shifted manual transmission, it continues to startwithout hesitation, and operate as Packard intended! Featuresinclude rear under seat heaters, foldable jump seats, rear footrest, rear assist handles and ropes, illuminated entry, map lights,front & rear vent windows, faux wood dash & window garnishmoldings, turn signals, Glare-proof rearview mirror, and more!Factory options include AM radio with roof-mounted antenna, licenseframes, front & rear Master Bumper Guards with protection rails,rear fender shrouds, white sidewall tires, wheel trim rings,Cormorant hood ornament, passenger "Packard" vanity mirror, exhaustturndown tip, gas door paint protector, and outside rearviewmirror!
