The success of the mass-produced Ford Model T will forever be recorded in the history books. With its launching in 1908, it was built in multiple styles through 1927. With generational design changes along the way, the Model T sold confidently each year as a practical, inexpensive vehicle affordable by almost any working individual with plenty of parts and service centers located just about anywhere you needed. Henry Ford continued to produce America's affordable Model T at a rapid pace into the late 1920's, averaging over 1 million units each year! The simplicity of the design, along with nine model choices to choose from, made Ford an easy choice for budget conscience buyers.
We are proud to offer this 1926 Ford Model T Touring, which is built on the same chassis as the roadster but comes with a rear bench seat instead of a storage trunk. It comes finished in Henry Ford's favorite color, Black, with a matching black vinyl interior and convertible top. Powered by its 177ci inline 4-cylinder engine producing 20 horsepower with a top speed of around 42 MPH and mated to a 2-speed planetary transmission. Features include 12-spoke wood spoke wheels wrapped in Firestone 4.40/4.50-21” tube tires, Rocky Mountain Brake Co. rear brakes, 6-volt alternator, Klaxon-style horn, driver side mirror, rearview mirror, 4-blade cooling fan, chrome hub caps, rear-mounted spare tire with cover, manual windshield wiper, license plate bracket, and folding convertible top with a full set of side curtains.
This Model T has been stored on display in our showroom since November 2011 by the previous owner. We purchased this Model T in March 2022 from his estate and have since performed an oil change, installed a new 6-volt battery, installed new pedal pads; removed, flushed, and sealed the fuel tank; cleaned the carburetor, resealed the fuel petcock valve, new engine oil & coolant, replaced ignition switch assembly with amp meter & chrome dash surround, along with cleaning up some other wiring with a new fuse block, installed new chrome radiator apron, and finishing with a thorough polishing and detailing for the vehicle overall. It starts and runs extremely well and should continue to impress its new owners!
This long-stored Model T has been well cared for at our museum and it is now available for sale for the first time in over a decade. These Model T Fords were the start of the affordable passenger vehicle and a testament to the simple yet great engineering that they are still around today and have many clubs dedicated to registering and keeping track of these pieces of history. Thank you for your interest and please contact us directly for more information or stop by our museum for a tour!
