1973 fiat 500l

The first Fiat 500 debuted in 1936 and was commonly known as the Topolino which translates in English to “little mouse” and featured a few different models including a saloon style coupe setup and a 3-door hatchback design. The 500 was well deserving of its nickname as it was one of the smallest cars in the world at the time of its production which continued until 1955 with over half a million being built during its run. Fiat took a couple years to perfect their design of the small yet practical city car and released the new 500 in 1957. During the generations of these new 500s which ended in 1976, there were a few different models with only minor changes in the overall style and design. The D model started in 1960 and the key features were the suicide doors and the new 499cc engine which was used in models until 1973 including the 500F and 500L model. The L model was the most luxurious of them all with its chrome bumpers and upgraded interior.

We are excited to offer this 1973 Fiat 500 type 110 F/L featured in factory correct Positano Yellow (code 208) with ribbed black vinyl on the seats and doors. This is one of the last models made for the F/L series and includes the rear mounted 499cc inline 2-cylinder engine with a 4-speed manual gearbox. It features the much-desired interior upgrade of the L models with the fold down backseat, new dashboard featuring Veglia horizontal instrumentation, a steering wheel lock, an open storage compartment underneath the center of the dash, and a spare tire in the front trunk. The exterior is fitted with chrome bumpers, the iconic retractable black canvas roof, a driver side mirror, and 12” wheels.

Truly a unique car that was built for city driving in Italy where most people were still using motor scooters and bicycles for commuting. The fact that you can still see these older Fiat 500 automobiles driving the small streets of Italy is a testament to its practicality and durability. These are low fuel consumption vehicles with excellent road handling and are more spacious inside than they appear. This Fiat 500 is showing just 36,739 kilometers and continues to remain impressively solid and original! It is ready to comfortably cruise around the streets and will always find a spot to fit for parking. Thank you for your interest and please call with any inquires or visit our showroom for a closer look at this terrific Fiat!
