Built to mimic one of only 4 true GT350Convertibles built in 1966, it represents one of the rarest Shelbysever produced, but this one can be driven on a fraction of thebudget! This 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible is brilliantly finishedin Ford Race Red over Palomino Tan Deluxe Pony interior. Startingwith a San Jose, CA production example that was parked with 71,000miles in the late 1970s in Visalia, CA, this totally rust freeconvertible was the perfect platform for a prominent Shelby GT350recreation build! The car was sourced by the Green family inDecember 2007 and was immediately stripped, placed on a rotisserie,and media blasted for expert restoration! The entire year longrestoration process was fully photo documented with over 350detailed pictures, all cataloged chronologically in a binderincluded with the sale. Beginning with a completely bare metalfoundation, it would be properly refinished in factory red oxideprimer, seam sealed, and then fitted with all new stainless steelbrake and fuel lines, all new suspension that included the upgradeShelby 1 front drop spindles and GT style disc brakes! The paintand body work would be perfected by Jims Classics and Hot Rods.From there, every single nut and bolt would be replaced for newhardware, along with all new wiring harnesses, rebuilt heatersystem, refinished dash components, new 5-dial GT gauge cluster,addition of the Shelby style Cobra dash tachometer, upgraded CustomAutosound AM/FM radio, and so much more! The bare metal of theinterior compartment was also treated to a proper red oxide primercoating before a moisture barrier and new carpeting was installed,as well as all new interior professionally installed with Cobrastyle seatbelts. Under the hood of this example lies a rebuilt 1969date-coded 302ci V8 dressed properly as a performance 289ci withappropriate Ford component heads & intake, Holley carburetion,Tri-Y headers, chrome valve cover & air cleaner, along with FOMOCOhoses for a brilliant factory presentation! Behind this stellarpower plant is a 4-speed top loader manual transmission and correct9 Ford rear axle fitted with 3.50 gearing!
