With the introduction of the more affordable, andeconomical Packard Six, considerably more buyers found theluxurious manufacturers showrooms nationally! Sales were brisk,even with the 1938 recession, making the exclusive Packard brandavailable to almost anyone! This provided the same power,reliability, and styling only Packard could deliver. As they statedfor years, Just Ask a Man Who Owns One! The quality spoke foritself! Offered here is a 1939 Packard Six 2-passenger BusinessCoupe finished in an attractive Pale Green over original LightGreen Beige ribbed broadcloth interior. Power comes from a smooth,and amazingly quiet 245ci Inline 6 cylinder engine mated to thefirst year 3-speed column-shifted manual transmission, offering astout 100 horsepower! Options and features include near perfectGoddess of Speed hood ornament, factory AM radio, amber front foglamps, dash clock, Dual-Loc Junior locking gas cap, front grillguard, drivers side outside mirror, Standard heater with defrost,sealed beam headlamps, added turn signals, dual horns, carpetedtrunk, vacuum wipers, and more! This example sold new from KlausingMotor Company based on Center Street in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, andstayed in the Indiana area its entire life. The previous owner of29 years purchased this example from the son of an Indianapolisowner in 1989. He took the liberty of fully reconditioning the carover the next two years to include completely rewiring the entirecar with a kit provided by Harnesses Unlimited, restoring theinterior dash & window faux wood finish professionally by ElgyBrintnall of Tranverse City, MI, also rebuilding the steeringcolumn with new bearings, refinishing the steering wheel,rechroming certain dash appointments, simply color sanding &polishing the exterior paint to remarkable condition, adding newradiator thermostats for the grill louvers, rebuilding the factoryAM radio and adding a FM convertor for modern radio stations, andmore! Looking over this stunning Packard closely, you will seefresh rubber seals around all windows & doors that remain soft,clear window glass, almost unused (but older) Lester Tire Co. 4-ply7.00-16 wide whitewall tires, smooth glossy paint, gorgeoushand-applied dark green painted pin stripping on the body & wheels,factory carpeted trunk to match the interior cabin floor, beautifulchrome, excellent body & panel fitment, and more! Prior to itsdeparture from the Kokomo, IN Automotive Museum in April 2018, thegas tank was removed, repaired, cleaned, tested, and sealed beforea the rebuilt fuel pump was installed and fresh fuel added. When itarrived to the St. Louis Car Museum in May 2018, the entire brakemaster cylinder assembly was replaced, along with new brake fluidin the system. It starts, runs, shifts, brakes, and drivesextremely well!
