California car since new, and cared for by the same former ownerssince 1967! Very solid with impeccable chassis & body fitmentthroughout! Sold new from Earl C. Anthony Packard based in LosAngeles on September 26, 1941! Recent servicing and freshening ofmechanicals! A hard to find, final Pre-war Super 8 Packard Sedanrepresenting one of only 2,580 produced! Leading up to the Japaneseinvasion of 1941, little time was wasnt by the United States as weprepared to enter World War II. Auto Makers across the countryturned all attention to military supplies so vehicle productioncame to a halt early in 1942. What vehicles that were built at thetail end of 1941 were limited, and at Packard, some 27,000 vehiclesof all model series left for showrooms. The Senior Packards werefew, with the Super Eight One-Sixty finishing with only 2,580units. Today, they represent the best Packard had to offer forPre-War collectors, and are very difficult to find in the conditionwe have presented here. We are very proud to offer this 1942Packard Super Eight One-Sixty Touring Sedan (Model 2005) finishedin classic Black over Tan Broadcloth interior. This amazingly wellcared for 7-passenger sedan hails from California were is sold newfrom Earl C. Anthony Packard Motor Car Company on September 26th,1941. Having spent much of its early life in Burbank in the care ofIrv Blonder, it would sell to Frank Schiro of Schiro Motor Sales onNovember 1st, 1967 and never trade hands again until arriving atour Museum in March 2018! The original Vehicle Number is 1571-2013,although it has been titled and registered its entire life off itsoriginal, early engine #E500080. Features came heavily equipped forthe premium 148 wheelbase One-Sixty series, and ours processes theoptional side mounted spares with hard covers. Additionally, youwill find the Packard Deluxe Heater, outside mirrors, Packardpushbutton radio with cowl antenna, triple horns, glove box dashclock, front courtesy lights, rear dome light, all Safety-Platewindow glass, unique rear tilt-out quarter vent windows, and rearfolding jump seats to accommodate additional passengers. Because ofthe design of making a complete bench, the second row of seats wasoften advertised by dealers for 3 persons making it an effective8-passenger sedan, but all Packard literature stuck to listing 7passenger accommodations. The odometer states 30,424 miles, but wewill not be advertising this as an actual mile example due toinsufficient documentation. We do however, have every singleCalifornia registration record from 1970-2016, its originalCalifornia black plate, a Schiro Motor Sales plate frame, andoriginal issue Packard body tags stamped by Earl C Antonys deliveryteam! The original engine remains in very healthy running capacitytoday with working gauges and functional overdrive transmission. Itappears this example was originally equipped with the ElectromaticClutch, but has since been disconnected. The first year issueCarter Carburetor remains with the car as well. It shows as awell-kept, older restoration today with few real criticisms. Thechrome remains very bright and shiny, and the body itself is simplyremarkably tight! The paint holds high gloss with some touch upshere and there. The interior is very presentable in all respectswith sharp wood graining on the dash, window surrounds, and eventhe parking brake handle. We invite interested parties to reach outwith additional questions or to present an offer for this rare,California time capsule!
