History of the 2005 Ford GT:
To celebrate Ford's 100th year in business in 2003, a centennial celebration was planned with the unveiling of a modern GT40 variant through their Living Legends design program. Designed and built using state of the art technology beginning with an aluminum space frame & body panels, produced by Mayflower Vehicle Systems, along with drivetrain attributes from years of testing through the Special Vehicle Team performance program, and final assembly by Saleen Special Vehicles, this venture proved to be one of Ford's greatest contributions to the supercar world! It would be simply known as the Ford GT. The Mounted mid-engine was an Eaton supercharged 5.4L DOHC 32-valve V8 making 550 horsepower and 500 lb. ft. of torque, mated to a Ricardo 6-speed transaxle. This engine is all-aluminum alloy and fitted with aluminum heads, forged aluminum pistons & connecting rods, special high lift camshaft, and dry-sump oiling system. Its performance was nothing short of incredible due to its ability to push this land rocket from 0-60mph in just 3.3 seconds, and hit a top speed of 205mph! The model was built for public consumption for only 2 years, with only 4,038 units being produced overall for 2005 & 2006 with production numbers split nearly perfectly for each year. Today, they continue to be a highlight for any car collection, with values holding strong year after year. Especially for superior, low mileage examples like this one!
