The Lincoln Continental Mark IV was at the top end of the personal luxury car market between 1972 and 1976. The Mark IV carried over most styling motifs from the successful Mark III, including the tall Rolls-Royce-style grille, the fashionable long-hood short-deck style, covered headlamps, a "spare tire hump" in the trunk, and the taller, knife-edged fender line. All Continentals were equipped with a vinyl roof and introduced the opera window to the Mark IV series, a feature that would become a Mark trademark until 1984.
This 1974 Lincoln Continental Mark IV Hardtop Coupe has had just one single family ownership from new! Showing only 25,902 original miles, this luxurious classic still wears its factory code correct Black paint with Black vinyl roof over Red interior. Powered by its original 460ci V8 and C6 automatic transmission featuring climate-controlled air conditioning, power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, dual front 4-way power seats, tilt steering wheel, AM/FM Stereo radio, passenger vanity mirror, cruise control, and under hood & luggage lamps.
Hailing from the dry state of New Mexico since new, the condition of this vehicle is impressive when considering its originality. The car has received some paint correction on the hood and front fenders, while retaining original paint on the balance of the car. Its original interior and has otherwise not been restored in any way. The former owners never had any accident history and have retained this Mark IV in a garage since its purchase from Ken John's Holland Lincoln Mercury of Albuquerque, NM on May 13th, 1974. It shows quite well with some minor patina that would be considered normal for a car of this age.
After its arrival to our museum, it was treated to some overdue maintenance and recommended services to include new engine oil/filter; drained & flushed the transmission with new filter and pan gasket; flush coolant system with new upper/lower radiator hoses; new rear pinion seal with fresh differential gear oil; rebuilt master brake booster, new proportioning valve, new brake hoses front/rear, new front pads/turned rotors, new rear brake shoes/turned drums, and new front wheel bearings; all new shocks(4), strut rod bushings, and steering coupler; new drive belts; replacement Edelbrock carburetor; new battery with cables; new spark plugs/wires, distributor cap; and new 1” white tires measuring 235/75R15!
