A new generation of Porsche 911 arrived in 1974, affectionately known as the G-Series, with revised bodywork to meet US safety laws. This included the now iconic accordion rubber bellows on the bumpers to meet 5mph collision regulations. This new design incorporated a new front spoiler and moved the turn signals into the bumper itself. The rockers now had body-colored moldings to hide the jack point giving the car a lower visible appearance, as well as a red “Porsche” script center panel between the rear taillights. A visual masterpiece for most enthusiasts! The past T and E models were now gone. Also new for this generation was a new engine displacement of 2.7 liters. These wonderful 6-cylinder motors developed an impressive 150 horsepower in base form, 165 factory horsepower at 5,800 rpm in the 911S for the US market, 160hp for California emission equipped examples, or 175hp for the Carrera performance model. This amount of power placed into the German-sculpted curves of a car that weighs about 2,500 pounds makes for quite the thrill ride!
This beautifully maintained 1975 Porsche 911S Coupe comes finished in factory coded Gazelle Metallic over Tan/Brown two-tone vinyl interior. Powered by its original 2.7L air-cooled horizontal 6 cylinder, this 911S was ordered with all the favored factory options to include 5-speed manual transmission, factory air conditioning, polished light alloy 15” Fuchs wheels wrapped in 205/60 front and 215/60 rear radial tires, front and rear sway bars, fog lamps, power mirror, rear window defrost, leather wrapped steering wheel, and front license plate bracket. It wears an older repaint but continues to present very well for any driver enthusiast looking for the freedom to explore the open road on the weekends!
Delivered new in Oakland, CA on August 21st, 1975, from Martin-Johnson Porsche-Audi where it was also serviced for the first year, before finding the Al Bauer Porsche service center through September 1979. It would trade hands a couple times before coming to the hands of Steve Bird in approximately 1988, and later to his son in 2018 until present day. After the most recent owner had taken possession, it received some overdue maintenance to remedy gasket leaks from sitting in storage. Beginning with a completely documented overhaul of the original, number's matching engine by Porsche of St. Louis in December 2018 with an odometer reading of 71,285 miles. This service included honing the crankcase main journals to factory spec, complete main bearings, rod bearings, shaft bearings, cylinder rings, upgraded Carrera oil-fed timing tensioners, injector cups, timing chains, oil return tubes, alternator & a/c belts, air hoses, complete engine gasket set, air box pop-off valve, and more!! It should be noted, this was a California emissions car when new carrying a smog pump and EGR equipment which have been removed many years ago. It is now exempt from California smog requirements because of its model year.
Following the installation of the fresh engine, the air conditioning was thoroughly vetted and rebuilt to perform perfectly! It also received a set of Koni Sport shocks all around later that same year. After approximately 500 break-in miles, it revisited Porsche of St. Louis for an oil change and final tuning. The transmission was the next to receive attention after developing common synchronizer issues, so Porsche was once again tasked with professionally rebuilding the transmission entirely. It would receive all new main shaft bearings, pinion bearings, synchro hubs, synchronizers & sliders, along with all seals and gaskets with an odometer reading of 71,941 miles.
This 911S Coupe retains the original tools, spare, jack, owner's manual, and warranty& maintenance booklet. Stamps in the service booklet cover the first 59,000 miles of this car's early life in California up to 1979. Today, it is totally serviced and truly could not be better prepared for a new owner to confidently drive it anywhere! Ready for many more years of enjoyment, it literally drives as wonderful as it looks! It has no accident history, new interior upholstery, newer tires, and upgraded Clarion AM/FM/Cassette audio system with Kenwood speakers for enhanced sound quality. Finding them this complete, professionally serviced, and solid is quickly becoming a rarity! Please call with any questions. Priced to sell quickly!
