2004 am general m1123 hmmwv humvee

One of America's most capable off-road military vehicles is the Humvee produced by AM General starting in 1983 and continuing still today. AM General is a heavy vehicle manufacturer that handles many military contracts and the HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) or “Humvee” wasn't their first. AM Generals roots go back to the combination of manufacturers including Standard Wheel Company, Overland Automotive Division, Willys and Jeep. In the 1940s Willys collaborated with Ford to develop Americas first 4-wheel drive quarter ton utility truck and with this the iconic Willys Jeep was born. The Jeep served well in WW2 and after for quite some time until the government wanted something more durable and well suited for protection. AM General won the contract to replace the Jeep that they already had a hand in making and began to produce the jack of all trades, Humvee.

The first AM General Humvee variants instantly saw action with America invading Panama in late 1989 and later saw widespread use in the Gulf War the following year. Through its years of service the Humvee has had many different set ups and saw new models come forth after learning what to improve on. The M1123 Humvee was one of these improved upon designs of the original. Outfitted with a stronger engine, heavy duty suspension, overdrive transmission, and a chassis designed for an increased payload capacity among many other changes, the M1123 kept the Humvee alive for many more years.

We are happy to represent this 2004 AM General M1123 Open Top Humvee finished with an A-TACS Ghost camouflage wrap created by Image 360. The interior was stripped down, cleaned and covered in a full Matte Black liner from Liner Xtreeme. As this is a later M1123 Humvee, it is equipped with the desirable 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Powering this rugged 4-wheel drive vehicle is a 6.5L diesel V8 producing 170 horsepower and an impressive 440 lb. ft. of torque. Starting its life off being used by the U.S.M.C. this Humvee was outfitted with a water fording kit, no doors, and a simple interior.

During its restoration by a previous owner, Cobra Tek ¼” aluminum doors with heavy duty powder coated hinges were installed along with 4 Corbeau Neoprene waterproof seats with a bench seat in the rear. Most of the water fording kit was removed but it still features the snorkel air filter extended from the hood. This Humvee features Method Racing 20” wheels wrapped in massive Maxxis RAZR MT tires measuring 40x13.50R20. The aggressive looks are complemented by customized LED headlamps, back-up lights, blue under hood lights and inner fender lights that shine down by the tires making for a remarkable presentation at night! Other features on this M1123 Humvee include power steering, heat/defrost, 3-point seatbelts, 4-wheel power disc brakes, Bluetooth stereo system, upgraded interior switch panel, and plenty of towing hooks!

Documentation of some of the restoration can be seen on the YouTube channel of the previous owner who bought this Humvee from Gov Planet becoming the 1st civilian owner. It is fully titled and registered for street use. Since its arrival at our sister company, Hummerservice.com, we have replaced the glow plugs, fuel injectors, coolant expansion tank, driver rear upper & lower ball joints along with giving it a fresh oil change and filter in preparation for sale. These are all-wheel-drive vehicles designed to handle the rugged, offroad terrain during combat situations and will handle anything you can throw at it. Thank you for your interest in this beauty and beast of a truck and please contact us directly for further information or come to our showroom for a closer look!
