A new design was in store for the Ford Mustang for 1969, both inside and out. It grew in overall size while maintaining the same wheelbase as the prior year but was now 1.5 inches lower to the ground. Headlight configuration grew to 4 sealed beam units, unique to this year only and the traditional Fastback was now referred to as the SportsRoof. It would showcase simulated rear fender scoops and a deck lid spoiler at the rear. With 10 engine options available, and several special performance packages to choose from, Ford wasn't giving showroom buyers many excuses not to buy a Mustang! A new Mach I Package replaced the GT Equipment Package as the premier performance option. This Mach I package automatically added a flat black hood with lock-down pins, reflective body side stripe, competition suspension, chrome wheels, color-keyed outside sport mirrors, and pop-open gas cap! It required the Sportsroof body design and nothing less than a 351ci-2V V8 under the hood of course! Buyers flocked to showrooms to have one of their own!
We are proud to offer this outstandingly solid 1969 Ford Mustang Mach I (63C) finished in correct (T5) Candy Apple Red and its Mach I reflective body side stripe with trim (3A) Black Knit Vinyl. Powered with its original 351ci Windsor V8 factory rated at 250 horsepower. An upgraded Edelbrock Streetmaster aluminum intake manifold paired to a 4-barrel Holley carburetor advances power closer to 300hp today. It mates with a FMX Select-Shift 3-speed automatic transmission, along with original 9” rear axle fitted with standard 3.00:1 gearing. Options on this car today include high back bucket seats, chrome steel wheels wrapped in period correct Firestone Wide Oval white letter black wall F70-14 super sport tires, power disc brakes, power steering, factory SelectAire air conditioning, all tinted glass, front & rear spoilers, and rear window louvers.
This Mustang began life selling new from Deel Motors Inc based in Coral Gables, Florida on March 20th, 1969, after being built on March 5th, 1969. It clearly packed all the right options to win over a quick buyer once in arrived at the showroom! It will come with owner's manual, spare tire with cover & lug wrench, and an upgraded Kenwood AM/FM/Cassette radio. This Mustang represents one of 8,343 built with this desired color/trim combination, which surprisingly was only 12% of the first year Mach I's produced in 1969.
Believed to have survived most of its life in southern Florida, it was just recently delivered to St. Louis out of the Fort Lauderdale, FL area. It has been beautifully cared for and clearly maintained in proper fashion. It showcases an older repaint but would certainly satisfy the weekend show-goer and fair-weather driver enthusiast without complaint. This Mach I only required minor attention upon arrival to include replacing the temperature sender, sway bar bushing and end links, along with a fresh oil change with filter. This Mustang is ready to roll and has just been professionally detailed by our staff. With such a large fan base for Ford Mustang enthusiasts and muscle car lovers alike, this Mach I is not likely to last very long! Thank you for looking, and please call with any questions or to schedule your chance to review it in person.
