Brief History of the Cadillac Eldorado:
Cadillac's third generation Eldorado received a stylish new makeover in 1957. They treated their top-of-the-line flagship model with striking features including the now downward tapering fenders, iconic rear shark fins, and wrap around chrome bumper that showed off new stainless steel beauty panels that seamlessly flowed into lower rear quarters. It was a hit to say the least! Not only luxurious in presentation, but also improved comfort and convenience with a new rear suspension design and automatic windows. With a name that translates to “Golden One”, the Eldorado proved it deserved the moniker and saw a total of 12 generations with production years spanning from 1953 all the way to the year 2002!
Details About This Cadillac Eldorado Example For Sale:
Offered here is a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Seville Sport Coupe finished in factory code correct 98- Copper Metallic with Ivory White roof and matching Code 55- Copper vinyl/paisley cloth interior. The original 365ci V8 engine was upgraded under past ownership to a more powerful 1959 date-codes 390ci V8 offering more performance with 325 horsepower and 430 lb. ft. of torque, now paired with a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission. Additional features include power steering, power brakes, chrome 15” Kelsey-Hayes Sabre wheels, American Classic 8.20-15 wide whitewall tires, E-Z-Eye tinted glass, heater/defrost, 6-way power seat, remote outside mirror, power trunk release/pull-down, Autronic Eye automatic headlight dimmer, AM radio with power antenna, reverse lights, and passenger vanity mirror.
This beautiful Cadillac has been lovingly cared for, utilized as a dependable driver and weekend show car for many years. The past two former owners enjoyed short summers, so it has approximately 500 miles accumulated on a fully rebuilt engine and transmission. Additionally, it received an auxiliary transmission cooler and an electric wiper conversion during the rebuild process. The exhaust system, tires, and shocks were replaced, along with a rebuilt braking system, in 2016. Upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum, it required only minor attention such as a new battery, heater control cable clips, valve cover gaskets, and a horn relay. It continues to be an outstanding driver's car with excellent road manners, not to mention a fantastic color combination that really turns heads!
This Eldorado is a golden opportunity to own a piece of Cadillacs luxury reputation. It represents one of only 2,100 Eldorado Seville Coupes produced for 1957 making them exceedingly exclusive for collectors today.
