1965 buick riviera

History of the Buick Riviera:
Buick entered the 1963 model year with a new vehicle to compete in the Personal Luxury Car arena, primarily against the Ford Thunderbird, which they would name Riviera. The name Riviera was used in previous years as a premium trim level for the Road Master and Super series models, providing owners more upscale features and options. When it became its own model series in 1963, the new cutting-edge General Motors design was certain to include an abundance of available luxury features as well. This included a standard high torque Nailhead V8 powerplant, as well as power brakes and steering. A host of power accessories were made available by choice to the buyer. Today, these stunning Rivieras represent a desirable GM E-platform design with a front engine/rear-wheel-drive systems when both Cadillac and Oldsmobile were transitioning to front-wheel-drive technology.

Details About This Riviera Example For Sale:
We are very excited to represent this beautiful first generation 1965 Buick Riviera Hardtop Coupe finished in factory correct CC-Arctic White over 620- Deluxe Green Vinyl interior! This particular example is powered by its original, number's matching 401ci Nailhead V8 “Wildcat 445” producing 325 horsepower and 445 lb. ft. of torque, mated to a Super Turbine 400 3-speed automatic transmission. In addition, this highly optioned Riviera comes loaded with air conditioning, power windows, 4-way power driver seat, tilt steering column, AM/FM pushbutton radio with power antenna & rear speaker, overspeed warning buzzer, glove box & trunk lamps, tinted Soft-Ray window glass, remote outside mirror, deluxe seatbelts with retractors, 15” chrome wheels with 1” whitewall tires, and Optikleen windshield washer!

A stunning 60s Riviera that comes from the former Michigan owner of 15 years where it was kept in Punta Gorda, Florida and enjoyed as a very well-kept original. It showcases one older repaint that continues to present very well, and an all-original interior that would impress even the most seasoned of collectors. Upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum in September of 2021, we would commence a comprehensive service to ensure a new owner would have a confident road car for many more years to come. This included a new complete concours OEM 2.5” dual exhaust system from Waldrons; new battery, spark plugs, ignition coil, distributor advance & new points, new intake manifold gasket, rebuilt carburetor, air filter, radiator cap, thermostat & gasket, all new brake cylinders; rebuilt a/c system to R134a with vacuum diaphragms & heater control valve; valve cover gaskets, fuel sending unit, headlight switch, and new wiper blades.

It has been beautifully detailed inside and out and continues to be an excellent road car! We've already added approximately 60 miles to the odometer this spring and encourage potential buyers to act quickly before its too late! To learn more about this luxurious Riviera for sale, contact Jon Faust by calling (800)957-5707 or by emailing info@stlouiscarmuseum.com! Finance & Shipping options available on all models.
