The Chevrolet Corvette model introduced many new firsts for the 1975 production year. It was the first year for standard catalytic converter exhaust systems, a pointless HEI distributor, and the one-piece body color soft bumpers. But one of the lasts for the 1975 Corvette would be the end for the convertible option on this C3 platform. A mandate from General Motors' upper management declared that the Corvette convertible was to be phased out during the 1975 model year, and it was. These Corvette convertibles were going to be instant collector's items. Just a fraction of 1975's total production ended up as convertibles though, only 4,629 vehicles to be exact. The droptop Vette was gone and would not return to showroom floors for more than a decade.
Offered here is a 1975 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible refinished in Orange Flame (originally Bright Green) with Medium Saddle Leather interior (originally vinyl), this hard-to-find Corvette is an excellent example of what is becoming one of the most rapidly appreciating segments in the classic car market. This Corvette Convertible is equipped with its number's matching L48 350ci V8, rare 4-speed manual transmission, power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, upgraded tan convertible top, anti-theft alarm, chrome luggage rack, aftermarket AM/FM/MP3 stereo, and 3.36 Posi-Traction rear axle.
The engine was meticulously serviced by its former longtime owner in North Dakota who kept the car up to 90 years of age. This vehicle was treated to a wonderful cosmetic and mechanical restoration about 15 years ago. It more recently sold to a new owner in 2021 from Naples, FL who would further service it to include all new brake calipers, rotors, pads, & hard lines; new power steering pump, steering box, and rams; brand new Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised white letter tires; upgraded high performance Champion Cooling aluminum radiator & fan; rebuilt front end with new ball joints, sway bar links & bushings, upper shock bushings, along with front end alignment; Vette Brakes & Products composite monoleaf rear spring; new drive belts; and fresh engine fluids!
Only 4,629 Corvettes left the factory as convertibles in 1975, and fewer yet with a factory wide-radio T-10 Borg Warner 4-speed manual transmission. Potential investors will quickly realize this very rare opportunity that only comes along once in a great while! The C3 generation offers enthusiasts the chance to acquire an emerging Corvette classic, yet affordable examples such as this are becoming increasingly rare. This convertible model will be hard to beat, and comes optioned with only the necessities to provide the driver the pure, original spirit of the Corvette! Be sure to secure one such as this while you can, as they never last long! Thanks for looking!
