Offered here is a 1967 Honda CA160 Touring motorcycle, referred to as the Honda Dream. It has been mildly restored with a recent repaint in its original color of Black and new replacement Black vinyl upholstered 2-person seat with grab strap. These unique welded pressed steel frames feature an integrated rear fender, with a suspension handled by a leading-link pressed-steel front fork and a swing arm with fully shrouded telescopic shocks that feature color-keyed uppers and chrome lowers. Power comes from a 161cc Parallel Twin 4-stroke single OHV engine with Keihin carburetor. It produces a comfortable 16.5 horsepower and shifts through a smooth 4-speed transmission. The “toaster” gas tank holds 2.5 gallons of fuel and is accented with chrome trim and black knee grips.
Additional features include valanced front fender, chrome wire wheels, dual exhaust mufflers, enclosed chain drive, original 6-volt ignition system, dual chrome rearview mirrors, side stand, center stand, and Nippon Seiki 90mph speedometer. It was originally fitted with an electric starter which is in-operable presently, but it generally starts with one easy kick of the foot starter. Honda claimed a top speed of 68mph.
This example was parked unused for many years with an elderly Honda enthusiast. He would finally part with it after meeting some members of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club during a show who had brought a similar Honda they had just brought back to life after long term storage. He would sell it to them with the promise they would bring the CA160 back to road worthy service once again. They obliged and thoroughly serviced this wonderfully original Honda to start and run beautifully! This included new engine gaskets & shift shaft seals, gas tank flushed with petcock rebuilt, cleaned the carburetor, freshening of the drum brakes, new battery, new Duro tires, light switch, new Honda side badges, replacement air filter, new spark plugs, new engine oil, and new throttle cable. They would then sell it on to another local resident here in the St. Louis area to enjoy around his neighborhood! He would add an additional 70 miles to the engine while exercising it this past summer. The odometer today reads just 12,771 miles.
The 54-year-old paint was showing a fair bit of patina from both age and being stored away in the garage, so it was partially dismantled in October 2021 for a worthy repaint. It retains its original mufflers with the interior baffles removed for a throatier exhaust sound and continues to be an absolute joy to operate! It would make for a terrific starter bike for someone learning to ride, offering a super comfortable riding position and easy overall operation! It's no wonder these classic Hondas continue to be highly desirable for collectors and enthusiast riders alike. They simply don't require much maintenance, are very dependable, and are very easy to service whenever necessary! Please call to discuss adding it to your collection today!
