Modeled after the Mako Shark show car, the new C3 generation of Corvette was introduced in 1968 with entirely new bodylines and interior layout! Although not officially re-titled the “Stingray” until 1969, the C3 generation lasted a lengthy 15 production years with only minor changes to the exterior styling. The early chrome bumper examples from 1968-1973 continue to be among the most sought after, and affordable classic Corvettes on the market today!
Finished in very desirable Steel Cities Gray (988) over Black Leather Custom Trim interior (403), this completely number's matching 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe comes loaded with options! Starting with its original 454ci V8 producing 365 horsepower, you get a M4 automatic 3-speed transmission, factory air conditioning, Custom Interior Trim Group with leather, wood-grain accented console & door panels, and special cut-pile carpeting; power steering, tilt/telescopic steering column, power brakes, power windows, 3.08:1 Posi-Traction rear axle ratio, original AM/FM radio, driver side mirror, 15” Rally wheels with Firestone Sup-R-Belt white stripe tires, rubber interior floor mats, removable t-top roof panels, original Astro-Ventilation side glass, and removable rear window glass!

Nearly 21,801 vehicles were produced for 1971, many in the T-top coupe form, but not easily found with this many favorable options making them considerably more difficult to source. Especially in numbers matching, original condition and rare color combination! This example is showing 61,531 original miles, having been with the original Indianapolis family owners from new thru 2019. The body and frame are representative of being both accident & rust free since new, with the exterior paint and interior leather seat upholstery being absolutely factory original. Today, it survives with only the slightest of visible patina conducive to a 50-year-old, garage kept example.
All the electrical and vacuum systems are functional including the interior fiber optics, headlights, radio, dash lights, wipers, horn, etc. The air conditioner remains outfitted with R12 fittings and continues to blow cold. The front brake calipers and hoses have been replaced for new, along with idler arm, upper & lower control arm bushings, and new tires in October 2021. It runs terrific without any disappointments! Only 5,097 LS5 big blocks were produced in 1971, and this one continues to impress! This one also comes with original owner's manual & plastic cover, warranty booklet with Protect-o-Plate, Consumer Guide, copy of factory window sticker, and one set of original GM keys!
