Building elegant luxury cars was nothing new for Cadillac, having always been on the pioneering front lines for American-built automobiles. During the early 1970's, all auto manufactures had to face challenges from the oil embargo and an economic recession. By 1975, improvements to the vehicles emission systems by utilizing catalytic convertors on the exhaust systems freed the engine of some components for better overall performance. Eldorado Convertible sales for 1975 would total 8,950 units, largely because of their MSRP cost costing over $10,000 for the first time. They were exclusive and expensive when new and continue to be very collectible today!
Offered here is a beautifully maintained 1975 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible finished in its factory applied Cotillion White over all original White Leather interior with new White convertible top! This triple-white example remains very original and has just 23,680 miles on the odometer! Under the hood remains the number's matching 500ci 8.2L V8 producing 190 carbureted horsepower and Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission. Options include climate-controlled air conditioning, power front disc brakes, power steering, power windows, power bench seat, intermittent wipers, remote drivers mirror, door edge guards, removable cabin trach bin, rubber floor mats, full wheel covers, and 1” whitewall tires!
This example sold new to Ellen Ekstrom of Minneapolis, Minnesota in June 1975 with just 12 miles on the odometer. Her prized summertime convertible would be babied and driven only on the nicest of days during the short driving season. It would be stored properly during the winter months with efforts to never let it see any inclement weather. A small pocket-sized spiral notebook included with sale shows annual notes through 1992 when the car had registered just 14,919 miles. An entry was started for 1993 but no further information was recorded, so we believe this was the year it sold on to new owners for the first time in 18 years.
Our documentation picks up from more recent owners located in Dallas, TX area from 2010 to present. This includes the replacement of the front and rear fender extensions in 2010; and a complete overhaul of the front suspension including all four shocks, wheel bearings, ignition components, new fuel pump, intake & valve cover gaskets, cooling system with new radiator & heater core, thermostat, rubber belts, all radiator & heater hoses, all wearable items within the entire braking system with new front calipers, rear differential gasket, new tires, new battery, and all new fluids and filters where applicable in May 2017 when 22,077 miles were showing on the odometer.
It also received a brand-new convertible soft top and rear window glass in September 2019 along with a new soft boot cover. An aftermarket RetroSound 'Retro Classic” radio head unit replaced the stock radio in the factory dash location. The original unit is included with the sale. Today, this odometer reads only 23,680 miles and should quickly prove to be one of the nicest road-ready Eldorado's presently on the market! Included with the sale are the original owner's manuals, 2 sets of keys, and aforementioned service records. Please feel free to call with any questions or to schedule a chance to see this beautiful Eldorado in person! Thanks for looking!
