Sharp triple black Corvette fitted with numbers matching 327ci/350hp V8! Optioned with 4-speed transmission, power steering, power brakes, side exhaust, aluminum wheels, and auxiliary hardtop! Fully restored in 2000 and collector kept since!! Act fast on this one!
Without question, the turning point for Corvette came about in the sports car scene when the 2nd generation was introduced in 1963. A revised chassis brought about a 4-wheel independent suspension, and as the years progressed; larger wheels were introduced, larger big block motors, and 4-wheel disc brakes! Amenities like power steering, air conditioning, and leather seats didn't hurt sales either with more buyers ready to park one in their garage! These cars are arguably the most coveted of Corvettes among collectors worldwide!
We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer this 1966 Corvette Convertible finished in Tuxedo Black (originally code 988- Milano Maroon) over Black Leather interior (factory coded STD.- Black Vinyl). Options on this example include original & numbers matching HT-code 327ci/350 horsepower V8 engine mated to a Muncie 4-speed wide ratio transmission, and AM-code 3.36 Posi-Traction rear end! All major components remain date code correct or numbers matching including Winters aluminum intake, Holley 585cfm carburetor, double-hump heads, radiator overflow tank, correct valve covers, and more! The only exception would be the 1967 date-coded transmission, likely a warranty replacement as it bears no VIN identifier. Other features include aluminum knock-off wheels, side exit exhaust system, carpeted floor mats, faux wood steering wheel, working push-button AM/FM radio, power steering, power brakes, auxiliary harp top, 1” radial whitewall tires, and telescoping steering wheel. It was last fully restored in 2000, and has been cosmetically and mechanically maintained on an as-needed basis over the years.
The lacquer finish shows well with a few superficial cracks in common areas of the body from age. It should also be noted that some areas around the gas filler, cowl vent, and hood have paint lifting or bubbling. It is otherwise an overall very straight body. It runs and drives excellently and has been carefully maintained by its former California owner of 2 years. Recent servicing between January 2019 and July 2021 includes new brake master cylinder & brake fluid, new front & rear sway bar links, front outer tie-rods, front sway bar bushings, new clutch kit, clutch pedal bushings, fresh engine oil/filter, air filter, and engine temperature sender. The previous owner also enjoyed hearing his audio system, so the factory system was left alone in the dash, and a new Jensen AM/FM/CD/Aux head unit was discreetly installed in the glovebox along with some speaker boxes and small subwoofer behind the front seats. It is a nice way to hear your favorite tunes over the side exhaust while the top is down!
Always stored in a climate-controlled environment, and never driven in inclement weather, it makes for an excellent collection piece! This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a beautiful, number's matching Corvette in a very favored color combination! We encourage all prospective buyers to visit our showroom to see this car in person! And, as always, you are welcome to call with any questions! Thanks for looking!
