Factory built Cobra by Excalibur Automobile Company! Early production example finished in striking Yellow over Black leather! Powered by 5.0L HO V8 and 5-speed manual transmission, 4-wheel power disc brakes, and air conditioning! Very rare and superb fun to enjoy!
Noted for their expertise in premium-quality, factory-built roadsters, limousines, and custom coupes dating back to 1964, Excalibur Automobile Corporation only offered turn-key vehicles ready to be enjoyed. More so, they meet the strictest of EPA & DOT safety guidelines and were ready to license in all 50 states without issue with bumper-to bumper warranties on all their limited production automobiles! Starting in 1993, they introduced their version of ever-popular Shelby Cobra. Taking the positive styling cues from the original, they managed to build their chassis and body with an objective to eliminate critiques found in the original. Mainly insufficient space, obsessive heat and noise, and lack of interior creature comforts!
We are excited to offer this rare 1993 Excalibur Cobra finished in factory Yellow with black racing stripes and full black leather interior! These one-piece, hand laid fiberglass bodies offered incredible strength and durability! The bodies are smoothed to factory standards before painted with a Sikkens 2-stage base coat/clear combination for a remarkable finish! The chassis is composed of a heavy-gauge rectangular tube ladder-style frame. Under the hood, these cars received a crate Ford 302ci High-Output Sequential Port Injection V8 mated to a T5 Borg Warner 5-speed manual transmission. The Ford 9” live axle rear end was fitted with a 3.50:1 limited slip differential.
Coil-over front suspension with tubular control arms and rack & pinion steering handle the front end, and an adjustable 4-link take care of the rear. A 4-wheel, power-assisted disc brake system was standard equipment. The wheels are 16” Compomotive Halibrand replicas measuring 7” up front and 9” wide in the rear. This amazing example was #4 built from the Excalibur factory and used as a primary show vehicle. It was photographed for the original sales brochure; driven by Al Unser Sr on the Milwaukee Mile racetrack; used in the Miller Genuine Draft Black & Gold team poster, and used to make the Excalibur 1996 company calendar with Playboy Playmate July 1995, Rhonda Adams, modeling with this car!
You will immediately notice characteristics that strayed away from an exact Shelby Cobra replication. Inside, you will find a tilt steering column, full leather covered interior including steering wheel, dash, bucket seats, head restraints, door panels, shift and e-brake handles! The chrome bezel VDO gauges offer full engine monitoring, and the amplified Sony audio system offer tunes should you grow bored of listening to the side pipes. Moreover, this Cobra offers a heater/defrost system and AIR CONDITIONING! With the Haartz Stayfast cloth top and side curtains in place, you can survive those hot summer days a little easier! Outside, you will see a chrome roll bar, exhaust pipes, windshield surround, and full bumpers. The odometer reading at the time of this listing reads only 23,871 miles.
What you don't immediately see with this Excalibur Cobra is the fact that the interior cockpit is both 5 inches longer for more legroom, and 4 inches wider for added shoulder room. Both elements make vehicle entry, and driver position, far superior to anything else offered on the market! Please call to discuss any finer details on these amazing turnkey factory production cars. They were produced in very limited quantities for only 5 model years, resulting in approximately 200 units built in total. Act quickly!
