History of the 1989 Ferraro Mondial T Cabriolet:
Introduced in 1980, the now Pininfarina-designed Mondial was offered as a practical 4-seater replacement to the Bertone-designed 308 GT4 model. Ferrari performance was still at utmost importance while focus also went into offering more interior space with reasonable legroom for all occupants. Uniquely successful for Ferrari, the Mondial was manufactured for 13 years with some 6,884 total units produced, both coupe and cabriolet. Built upon a steel box-section space frame with a steel body manufactured by Scaglietti using a light-alloy engine and luggage deck lids to save additional weight. The engine/gearbox/rear suspension was designed as one assembly on a detachable steel subframe making it easier to remove for major servicing. By 1989, the Mondial “T” was engineered to vastly improve both performance, as well as handling, of the already commercially successful model.
These Formula One inspired improvements included longitudinally mounting the engine to allow it to be centered lower in the car's chassis, while leaving the gearbox transversely mounted, hence the “T” format. The lower mounted drivetrain enhanced the handling of the car dramatically, while the additional space allowed for a larger 3.4L displacement V8 engine to be introduced which offered 300 horsepower! This drivetrain format would become the standard for the Ferrari marque for many years to come. Other standard improvements to the Mondial T include Bosch Motronic electronic engine management, standard ABS braking, power-assisted steering, and 3-position electronically controlled suspension system! The Mondial T would only be produced from 1989-1993, making them the finest of the model series to own and enjoy today!

It continues to impress drivers with 300 horsepower through a limited-slip differential. Options include air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power-folding top, Alpine audio system, passenger vanity mirror, 16” alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear F1 directional radials measuring 205/55R16 upfront & 245/50R16 at the rear, carpeted floor mats, and more. It sold new from Algar Ferrari in Rosemont, PA, where it remained for the first two owners. They were responsible for the first 1,200-mile Service, 7,500-mile Service, and 15K Major Service with timing belt replacement for the first owner through 6,715 miles on the odometer, all completed by the calendar year recommendation. It would then sell a second time through Algar Ferrari in 1996 and did so fully protected with the Ferrari Powertrain Plus Warranty coverage. It would finally leave the Pennsylvania area in March 2000 for the third owner located in Bellevue, WA area with only 8,133 miles on the odometer. Servicing of this classic Ferrari from then forward would be completed by Ferrari of Seattle or Park Place Limited of Bellevue. All records of this highly sought after 1989 Ferrari Mondial T for sale will be provided in a binder for the next owner.
Most recently completed in June 2019 was the 30K Timing Belt Service at 13,250 miles, which included all-new cam timing belt, tensioner and idler bearings, all new cam seals, cam o-rings and bolts, cam cover gaskets, all new accessory belts, endplate gaskets, new NGK Iridium spark plugs, new air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, main coolant hoses, engine supports, oil drain plug, transmission drain plug, exhaust gaskets, phase sensor gasket and oil seal, new water pump, and all fresh fluids. The braking system would be bled, as well as a full conversion of the air conditioning system to R134a for easier maintenance in the future. All receipts for these components will be provided as well as photo documentation of the engine-out service upon sale.
