Wonderfully kept 3100-Series pickup finished in highly desired Forrest Green! Original date-code correct 235ci Straight 6 engine, 3-speed manual transmission, heater/defrost, stained oak bed with aluminum rails, whitewall tires, and more! Super solid truck with excellent road manners!
Developed after World War II and named the “Advance Design” Series by Chevrolet, these trucks were branded as bigger, stronger sharper & better looking than their competition! These sleek trucks were the number one seller throughout their entire production from 1947-1955. Significant changes were introduced in the final two years that included the replacement of the 216ci straight 6 cylinder engine with the larger 235ci Thiftmaster straight 6 cylinder engine which allowed for the optional Hydramatic automatic transmission for the first time. From 1954 and forward, other improvements on these classic Chevy sixes continued which included a curved one-piece windshield, new grill design, revised steering wheel, and dashboard, along with horizontal bed rails with round taillights.
Offered here is an outstanding 1954 Chevrolet 3100 pickup that has been refinished in Forrest green over custom tan vinyl/patterned cloth insert interior! Under the hood lies its original 1954 date-coded 235ci Inline 6 cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed column shift manual transmission, offering a stout 105 horsepower. Options include heater/defrost system, front & rear chrome bumpers, driver sun visor, cowl ventilation, oversized outside trailering mirrors, stained oak bed with aluminum bed rails, side step plates, door handle paint protectors, wheel trim rings, wide whitewall radial tires, and engine oil filtration system!
This example comes dressed to impress with an older, professional refinish of the exterior paint that continues to show very well, even under close inspection. The interior was reupholstered in tan vinyl & floral pattern cloth inserts that truly enhance the cabin space! All dash instrumentation is fully functional and operates wonderfully!
Upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum, the engine oil was changed along with a fresh oil filter, all new spark plugs, new valve cover gasket, engine detailing with new decals, including an overall polish and detail of the entire truck. The cab is super solid with doors that open/close with a resounding “thunk” leaving perfect closed gaps! The interior floor remains all original and as solid as the day it left the factory with a proper locking battery box cover. It is covered with a new rubber mat including a padded underlayment, making for a wonderful truck to enjoy for work and play! As you can see, this stunning example includes a unique attribute to the 3100 series which would be the dipped center section within the rear bumper. Today, this is one characteristic that is not always found on a classic '54 Chevrolet 3100 for sale! Features such as the 3100's short design period of under two years, it's functional design, and superior engine makes this model a solid investment choice as well as a fantastic addition to any automotive collection.
