This car needs nothing but a new owner! By early March of1966, Ford had already sold 1,000,000 Mustangs. The seeminglyendless array of possibilities meant that anyone from young teenageboys to grandmas could spec their Mustang out in various flavorsfrom mild to wild. There were still three body styles, four enginesand a plethora of interior and exterior colors and trim packages. All said and done, another 607,000 Mustangs found homes in 1966! Weare very excited to offer this 1966 Ford Mustang GT Coupe! The caris finished as it was from the factory in Candy Apple Red withWhite vinyl roof and Red Pony interior. This car is fitted with itsoriginal A-Code Challenger Special 289ci V8 making 225 horsepower!Furthermore, the car is fitted with its original C4 Dual-RangeAutomatic transmission. Options on the car include airconditioning, power steering, AM Radio, bucket seats with fulllength console, Rally-Pac clock/tachometer, GT equipment group (HDsuspension, 16:1 steering, front disc brakes, 4-inch fog lamps,five-dial instrument cluster, GT badging, hood accent molding andtriple stripe on lower body), deluxe seatbelts front & rear (frontretractors), visibility group (two-speed wipers, day/nite rear-viewmirror, remote side-view mirror) and styled steel wheels wrapped in6.95-14 Goodyear Power Cushion white line tires. The car startedlife in the sunny Los Angeles DSO and ultimately made its way intothe collection of a Mustang Club of America judge in Arkansas in1997. The cars potential was realized and it was decided that thecar was to be restored. Seeing as the car still wears all of itsdate-code correct sheet metal, it must have been a great foundationto start with! The car was brought back to a very high level andupon finishing, was entered into a judged event in 2003, scoring680 of 701 possible points earning the car Concours Gold Awards. The car was sold to another Arkansan before making its way to thegreater St. Louis metropolitan area in July of 2007. The new owner,MCA judging sheets in hand, vowed to correct the issues that keptthe car from scoring every point possible. A frayed wiring harness,a misaligned taillight and speaker grilles are receipts we have toverify that this owner meant business! While the car has not beenjudged since 2003, we have every reason to believe that the carwould score even higher today than it would have 15 years ago! Thecar survives today with an older restoration that would fool manyeyes into thinking it was fresh. The paint and chrome are still atshow level. All mechanicals, lights, radio, gauges, buttons, switches and even the clock work. Every component of the car thatwould have been date stamped when new is and it is all correct. Thefender stamp is clearly visible and body panel gaps are excellent. This is one of those cars that could make an enthusiast smile justopening and closing the doors or hood. More so than a lot of otherMustangs we have had our hands on, simply stepping in this car willmake you feel like you are in 1966 and taking delivery of yourbrand new, shiny red Mustang.
