A remarkable car, with extreme rarity in the neoclassicmarket! This represents#66 of only 187 Cabriolets producedinSeriesII excellence! What an opportunity! Alain Clenet brought his dreamsof building top end, limited production neo-classic automobiles toreality in 1975 with the help of many fellow automobile enthusiastinvestors. Established in Santa Barbara, California using only thebest craftsmen available, and high build standards, ClenetCoachworks Inc. was born! With a 1930s design inspiration, both allmodern drive trains and suspension systems, these splendid carswere largely sold to only the wealthy and elite. At a cost of over$100,000 in the late 1970s, they typically found homes withHollywood fame that included Aaron Spelling, Sylvester Stallone,Wayne Newton, and Farrah Fawcett! They were even features among thewealthiest on episode of Dallas and soap opera Dynasty! Theluxurious Series II was introduced in 1979 with placards createdfor the cars prepared and numbered through 250 units slated forproduction. Although, true production ended at 187 vehiclesproduced through 1980 making them extremely rare to find today!Offered here is 1980 Clenet Series II Cabriolet #66, having onlyone registered owner from new, and showing just 25,489 actualmiles! Built atop a 1979 Ford platform using a 351ci-2bbl V8 powerplant and AOD overdrive transmission, it offers plenty of power tomotivate this full-fendered beauty down the highway with ease!Features and options include air conditioning, power front discbrakes, power steering, chrome wire wheels wrapped in brand newAmerican Classic 235/75R15 wide whitewall tires, rear-mountedcontinental accessory spare, power windows, 6-way power seats, fullinterior courtesy lights, air horns, flip top fuel cap, addedelectronic musical melody horn system, cruise control, Dietz foglamps, front/rear seatbelts, heat/defrost, glass hood ornament,etched glass vent windows, Pioneer sound system, faux side exitexhaust with chrome tips, and more! The interior is draped inluxury with broad burled walnut dash board, completeinstrumentation with quartz clock, leather wrapped steering wheel,Recaro sport seats, all leather surfaces, and room for four adults!Outside, a stunning two-tone paint finish remains in very goodcondition showing only minimal signs of normal use, along withteakwood trimmed hood, running boards, deck lid, and continentaltrim. This example sold new to Charles Abrams in Greentown, PA new,but spent the better part of its life parked in their West PalmBeach, Florida summer home. After Mr. Abrams passing in 2012, thisexample remains parked indoors for several years. The St. Louis CarMuseum was lucky to have the opportunity to bring this excitingCabriolet to our facility for a full renovation. This largelyincluded full fluid and filter changes, all new ignition system,fresh battery & tires, new driver side power window motor &regulator, drained fuel system, rebuilt carburetor, fresh rearbrake wheel cylinders, front brake hoses, new idler arm, and allnew interior carpet/bindings in our upholstery shop!
