Very hard to find 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible representing oneofonly 3,783 produced for 1970! Highly optioned with airconditioning, power windows, power disc brakes, power steering,Rally gauges, Rally II wheels, Safe-T-Track differential, and allnumber's matching drivetrain! Awesome example! The muscle carmarket was already starting to feel the pressure of raising fueland insurance costs by 1970, so sales at most manufactures startedto decline. At Pontiac, the GTO continued to lead the way for theperformance savvy buyer and was again revised for its 7th year witha revised front end highlighting the four exposed individualheadlamps, still wrapped inside the Endura urethane bumper. Newstiffer front anti-sway bar, and addition of a rear sway bar,enhanced the cornering capabilities along with new variable-ratiopower steering giving further ease to steering along with a shorterturning radius. A new taillight design and enhanced body profile,several new available engines with high horsepower output, andabundant options allowed buyers to personalize their GTO anyway youpreferred! Overall GTO production crested at 40,149 units and onceagain, they proved to be dominant both on the strip and at stoplights! The rarest are the limited production 3,783 convertiblesbuilt! Powered by itsoriginal, number's matching 400ci/350hp V8-4bbl engine &console-shifted Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission, powerfront disc brakes, power steering, factory air conditioning, RallyInstrumentation, Rally II wheels fitted with Goodyear Eagle STradials, Safe-T-Track 3.23 rear axle, Deluxe steering wheel, dualoutside mirrors, power folding top, Dcor Group, all Soft-Raytinted glass, power windows, rubber floor mats, and Stereo radio!This example delivered new from Kahn Motors, Inc. located inEnglewood, NJ on May 5th, 1970 as a late production unit. Recordsprovided with our car start with owners, Ron & Norma Rogers,located in Warrenton, MO. They located this exceptionally solid carin Georgia the spring of 1997 showcasing what appears to be alloriginal sheet metal & floors (exception to driver's side lowerquarter panel was replaced), and then performed a beautifulmechanical & cosmetic restoration soon afterward. Sadly, with thepassing of Roger, the car has sat for a number years parkedalongside their 1965 GTO Tri-power Hardtop, 1966 GTO convertible,and an unfinished 1969 GTO Judge hardtop. Upon acquisition by theSt. Louis Car Museum, we completely serviced the car to ensure itwas properly prepared for road use again. This included new enginefluids & filters, fresh battery, all new ignition system (plugs,plug wires, distributor & rotor, condenser & points), rebuiltcarburetor, flushed fuel system, front brake hoses, valve covergaskets, new brake master cylinder & fresh brake fluid, and frontsuspension center link. Inside, we replaced the interior carpetingfor new, replaced the top & A-pillar weather stripping, convertedthe air conditioning system to R134a to operational order,installed new blower motor relay & switch, new rear trunk mat &spare tire cover, along with a few other cosmetic details. Back onthe road for the first time in years, we truly could not be morepleased with the overall performance! All aspects of this 1970Pontiac GTO are remarkably tight, with smooth performance from theengine and transmission. It remains all number's matching withcorrect VIN-stamped block, transmission, original intake, factoryissued Quadrajet carburetor, heads, exhaust manifolds, etc.Included with car will be all PHS documentation, complete sparetire with tools, and two sets of keys.
