1937 packard super eight 1501 victoria

Very nicely documented Packard with proper restoration to gorgeousfactory presentation! Loaded with every desirable option andaccessory! An AACA Junior and Senior 1st Place Award winner, alongwith Packard National Award! Fully rebuilt engine in 1995 thatcontinues to run superbly! A Full CCCA Classic representing one ofonly 96 Packard Convertible Victoria's ever produced! What a rareopportunity! With a countrywide recession looming, Packard MotorCar Company was looking to keep a large portion of its luxurybuyers in their showrooms for 1937. This lead to the introductionof the new Model 115C that year fitted with a 6-cylinder engine. While the rest of their Senior line-up continued to be produced byskilled craftsmen in limited quantities, it was fair to say Packardentered a mass production mode for supplying these popular, new115C sedans. The larger Super Eight models were still customcrafted, and had a reduction of the chassis size to a sportier134", providing a further improved ride. This was possibly withsome new elements for these exclusive, luxury vehicles for 1937that would include the introduction of a fully independentSafe-T-Flex front suspension and hydraulic brakes. These twoimprovements, along with slightly higher compression engines withStromberg carburetion for added horsepower, they make for one ofthe most sought after Packard touring models among driverenthusiasts today! Offered here is our 1937 Packard Super Eight1501 Convertible Victoria finished in highly desired Packard Creamwith Red Leather interior and Tan Canvass folding top. Thisbeautiful 5-passenger convertible represents one of only 96 everproduced and one of far fewer that still exist today! Power remainsprovided by its original 320ci Straight 8 engine (#397637) with6.5:1 compression & Stromberg carburetor, both professionallyrebuilt inside and out. Options and features include 3-speed manualtransmission, dual side-mounted spare tires with hard covers,Packard See-Rite mirrors, Trippe fog lamps, rear luggage rack withmatching trunk, deluxe hood ornament, rear back-up light,heater/defrost, Packard Deluxe radio with cowl antenna, engine oilfiltration system, trumpet horns, and BF Goodrich Silvertown widewhitewall tires measuring 7.50-16 4-ply tires. This stunningVictoria Convertible was sold new from Packard Motor Car Company ofNew York selling January 13th, 1937. Our history of the car thenpicks up with the complete restoration by Frank Childs of BocaRaton, Florida to what appears to be a remarkably solid and wellpreserved body and smooth chassis. He chose Harbor Auto Restorationof Pompano Beach, FL in 1995 for the paint, interior, and overallmechanical overhaul. The engine was sublet to Custom Engine Serviceof Hialeah, FL for the machine work and balancing of the rotatingassembly. This included hot tanked block, magnafluxed crankshaft, grind of rod journals, honed cylinder liners, new pistons & rings, new rods, insert-type rod bearings, polished mains with newbearings, cam rollers, timing chain, new head studs, rebuiltcarburetor, rebuilt starter, new fuel lines, complete engine gasketset, etc. The rest of the restoration included all new exteriorpaint, fresh soft leather interior, brand new convertible top &boot, weather stripping, wiring harnesses, refinished chromecomponents, and so much more! It retains the factory engine splashpans and all Delco-Remy electrical components. Some pictures of thebefore and after will be included, along with the service receiptsof the major service overhaul. It was later sold to Jim Boros ofOak Brook, IL who would enjoy this lovely Packard for approximately4 years before passing ownership to Lew Web of the Laguna Beach,California area to maintain ownership for the past 19 years! Itdoes have the added aid of an electrical fuel pump for speedierfuel delivery between startups, along with a new exhaust manifoldin 2000 and having the carburetor fully overhauled professionallyby Custom Auto Service of Santa Ana, CA in 2007. You will beprovided a 1937 Operation & Maintenance Data Manual, Packard ShopManual, and storage car cover with purchase. Collecting cars ofthis caliber, and rarity, do not present themselves very often, sowe encourage all interested parties to inquiry immediately. We arehappy to answer specific questions and offer inspectionopportunities. We look forward to working with you!
