The XKE series Jaguar was an instantsuccess from the moment it appeared at the automotive seen in 1961!As each new generation was improved from the last, it continued tooffer more and more to the buyers after the prestigious luxurysports car from England! This included improved brakes, bettersuspension, superior interior comfort, more significant cooling,and bigger displacement engines! By 1971, the short wheel baseoffering was long gone in favor of a quality ride, and powersteering was now a standard feature. The Series III was born witha V12 with quad Zenith-Stromberg carburetion under the bonnet, andonly 6,119 LHD convertibles were produced over the entire four yearproduction! We are delighted to offer this 1974 Jaguar XKE SeriesIII convertible finished in British Green over beautifully keptBlack Leather interior and Black soft top! Options include numbermatching 5.3L V12 engine producing a powerful 272 horsepower,4-speed synchromesh manual transmission, air conditioning, chrome15" wire spoke wheels with Michelin Radial X redline tires, AM/FMradio, twin tip chrome exhaust, leather wrapped steering wheel,telescoping steering column, remote outside mirror, and more!Standard options included a responsive 4-wheel independentsuspension with matching disc brakes at all four corners, powersteering, front & rear bumper guards, and full dash instrumentationwith electric dash! This wonderful example is showing only 37,208miles which are believed to be original from new, although the St.Louis Car Museum was not provided enough evidence to support a truemileage claim. Helping support the mileage is the fact this carpossesses all original, factory applied paint with exception to thecenter section of the hood, along with an all original interior andtop. A paint meter shows 2.5-4.5mils on all panels, where the hoodcenter was repainted reading 7-10.5mils. Ownership historysupports a longtime southern California history, even gracing theesteemed Astor Classics Museum of Anaheim, CA for the past 14years. This museum was built by Art Astor of the Astor BroadcastGroup covering some 100k square feet, all filled with pastautomobilia, petroliana, industry firsts, and of course hispersonal car collection. He had purchased this Jaguar from DonaldKoll of The Koll Company, a mogul as a real estate developer in thehigh rise, retail space, and resort building business. Historybeyond Mr. Koll isn't available, but the car retains the originalblue plate California tag which is included with the sale. Alsoincluded will be an original owner's manual, 3 sets of keys, andall original tire changing equipment. Upon arrival to our Museum,we performed a full inspection and replaced the following items:spark plugs & wires, all drive belts (a/c compressor, alternator,power steering, water pump), clutch slave cylinder, brake hoses,fluid level sensors, fuel sender, front sway bar bushings, new hood& door seals, air intake trumpet bellows & clamps, heater intakescreen & foam seals, new air filters, new engine oil & filter,among a few smaller items. Overall, the car has been unbelievablywell kept and remains very original overall! It starts, runs, anddrives with great bravado with a pure Jaguar sound from theexhaust! The brakes and throttle are equally responsive forspirited drives, or relaxing cruises.
