Gorgeous frame off restoration completed in 2005! Remains a superbexample with excellent drive characteristics! Fitted withoriginal, number's matching engine, 4-speed transmission, completewet weather gear, radial tires, heater, fogs, Brooklandswindscreens, and more! Great road car with only 1,068 miles on therestoration! Debuting in 1950, the TC-series was replaced by aslightly larger TD-series. This new design offered bothleft-hand-drive and an independent front suspension for the firsttime. They also included smaller, more tire-friendly 15" wheelsand a wheel track that was 5 inches wider promising better roadhandling! This beautiful 1953 MGTD roadster comes finished in MGRed over Tan leather hides and matching Tan Stayfast cloth top.Powered by its original, number's matching 1250cc XPAG straight4-cylinder engine with twin SU carburetion producing a modest 57horsepower at 5200 rpm. Features include 4-speed manualtransmission, front fog lamps with badge bar, fender-mountedrearview mirrors, proper vinyl covered dash with original steeringwheel and correct Jaeger gauges, Lucas amp meter, and chrome MGhand grips; twin Brooklands racing windscreens, Plexiglas windwings, electric wipers, 15" disc wheels with polished chrome centercaps & trim rings, 165R15 radial tires, rear luggage rack, cabinheater, added red seat belts, leather shift & e-brake boots, and acomplete canvass top set with side curtains. It was treated to acomplete frame-off restoration beginning in March of 2005 with acomplete reconditioning and replacement of the original wooden bodystructure and sheet metal. It was repainted in April 2005. Theentire chassis was disassembled and fully rebuilt, along with thecomplete drivetrain. This included the entire brake system,suspension & steering system, brass fuel lines with new SU fuelpump, complete wiring harness from front to back, all new exhaust,brand new tires, and more. Nothing on this car has been alteredfrom original right down to the correct generator charging system,MG intake and exhaust manifolds, canister oil filter, and sidedischarge distributor cap! All body and engine tags are clearlypresent and unaltered making this largely original example agenuine driver investment! We would like to add that the gaugeswere rebuilt to be in excellent working operation without thenormal sticking needle indicators. The engine performance is trulydialed in and was recently uses on three 25 mile excursions here inthe heart of St. Louis without fault. Today, the car shows only1,068 odometer miles since restoration. Included with the car willbe an owner's manual and complete photo documentation of therestoration.
