Porsche continued to stream into the 1980's with a host of wonderful products. The entry level 924 that replaced the 912 after 1976 was helping Porsche keep sales moving, which was loosely based on the very platform of the larger 928 V8 model series. Each shared the water-cooled, front engine, rear-wheel-drive set up. The newly designed 944 would debut in 1982 with more refinements to become more powerful with better suspension and stopping performance. Units built after 1985 received revised dash and door panels, embedded windshield radio antenna, 115 amp alternator, increased oil sump capacity, new front & rear cast alloy control arms and semi-trailing arms, larger fuel tank, Hi-Fi sound system, and revisions in the mounting of the transaxle to reduce noise &vibration. The "cookie cutter" style wheels used in the early 944swere upgraded to new "phone dial" style wheels. We are very excited to offer this 1986 Porsche 944 Coupe finished in Guards Red over Light Beige Leather interior. This wonderfully kept, 3-ownerexample remains unmodified and continues to be a delight to drive! Options and features include 2.5L liquid-cooled 4 cylinder engine producing a factory rated 143 horsepower, 5-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, power steering, cruise control, power driver seat height adjustment, servo-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes, leather wrapped steering wheel & shift knob, updated Alpine AM/FM/CD radio and speakers, fog lamps, front & rear stabilizer bars, 15x7" aluminum wheels wrapped in 215/60R15 directional radial tires, removable targa roof with power pop-up feature; power windows, locks, & mirrors; carpeted floor mats, rear cargo storage cover, along with center console with coin and cassette holder!
It sold new from Stoddard Porsche when still based in Willoughby, OH on May 28th, 1986 and stayed with the original owner through 2007,always serviced regularly by Stoddard and area professionals. It then made its way to a Mentor, OH owner in January 2007 who cared for this 944 until December 2013, before passing in on to its last enthusiast owner also residing in Mentor, OH. This superb vehicle comes with all original owner & service manuals, two sets of original keys, untouched factory tool kit, unused spare tire, Porsche tire compressor, Haynes service manual, original 1986Porsche brochure, and all service records back to brand new. Also included will be a storage car cover and targa top storage bag. All Porsche recommended maintenance intervals were met and completed by Stoddard Porsche through 1992. This included 15K, 30K, 45K, and 60Kservices. Brake fluid renewals, coolant flushes, and regular oil changes. The entire brake system was replaced in 1999 with rebuilt front & rear calipers, all new hardware, pads, rotors, front hub seals, and sensor wires. Earlier that same year, it also had the timing belt, pulley, & adjuster replaced at 78,674 miles along with the balance belt roller pulley, adjuster, belt pulley, & belt; new water pump, upper & lower radiator hoses, by-pass hose, radiator to tank hose, all accessory belts, new idler pulley, fuel pump & fuel filter! We need to note an odometer repair was listed in the service records indicating the exact mileage will be unknown today, so this car is being sold mileage exempt for this reason. All features continue to function as they should including all lights, power headlight doors, air conditioning, safety items, and power accessories. It just recently received a new battery, front hood struts, new coolant hoses with fresh antifreeze, along with an oil change. We feel it is priced to sell quickly. Please feel welcome to visit our showroom with inspections or call with additional questions.
