Outstanding concours restoration completed by the Heritage Divisionof Max BMW-Connecticut! Approximately 300 miles ridden by vintagemotorcycle collector and connoisseur, Ray Lamontagne, sincecompletion. All original, and better than factory by presentationtoday, it also comes fitted with complete Krauser hard bags withsoft travel insert bags, quad rearview mirrors, and Metzelertires! As good as they get! Beginning in 1970, BMW introduced the/5 models in three forms; 500cc (R50/5), 600cc (R60/5), and the750cc (R75/5). These were the first motorcycles built entirely atthe Berlin, Germany plant and stayed in production for only 3 yearsbefore revisions were introduced. All of the /5 models have bothelectric & kick starters, air-cooled four-stroke opposed twincylinder boxer-style engines with hemispherical combustionchambers, 4-speed transmissions, and shaft driven power to the rearwheel. All models were equipped with telescopic front forks,tachometer, 12-volt alternator charging systems, and turn signals.The largest of the bunch, the R75/5 was equipped with larger borespecs and bigger Bing 32mm carburetors to produce 50 horsepower,and an achievable top speed of 110 mph! This stunningly restored1971 BMW R75/5 was expertly completed by the crafted hands at MaxBMW based in Danbury, CT through their Heritage Division forvintage classics! Finished in Gloss Black with proper Whitepinstripe, it continues to operate with its original, numbersmatching engine and proper Bing carbs, all fully rebuilt. All newwiring harness, Hagon shocks, and upgraded Enduralast chargingsystem. No detail was left untouched, leaving results likelybetter than new! It will come documented with MAX BMW restorationdocumentation. Having sold to Grammy-awarded singer, songwriterRay Lamontagne upon completion, it has traveled only 300 miles onthe open road under his care. Ray's collection of motorcycles isbroad and outstanding, with a taste for only the best money canbuy. Having enjoyed this one since July of 2014, he has elected tosell it for something new.
