1951 mercury eight deluxe 6 passenger

Beautifully accessorized with tons of factory and dealer installedoptions! Beautifully restored California car by Larry Evenson!Excellent driver and show winner! Mercury was founded in 1937 byEdsel Ford as a bridge between the top-end Fords and the baseLincolns of the time. It was a brand that arguably struggled withan identity during its primitive years but ultimately hit fullstride after the war. Introduced in 1939, the Mercury 8 startedlife with a flathead and really came into its own with the releaseof the third generation in 1949. As the first post-war Mercury, itcame out swinging with a larger 255ci Flathead V8 and uniquestyling that better differentiated it from its Ford roots. This newintegrated fender "ponton" design helped Mercury break salesrecords in 1949. With many finding their way into the hands ofcustomizers immediately from dealer showrooms, so finding an uncut,un-chopped, or unmodified example today is very difficult! We areexcited to represent this stunning nut-and-bolt restored 1951Mercury 6-passenger Deluxe Coupe! Professionally restored veryrecently in its original two-tone color of Sheffield Green & TomahIvory with stellar results! The factory style cloth interior hasbeen perfectly executed in a sharp two-tone green and gray whichcarries from the floor to ceiling. Options include strong running255ci Flathead V8, Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission, factoryrear axle ratio, working AM radio with sound adjustment(Hi-Fidelity, Bass, Normal, & Lo Noise) & factory rear seatspeaker, front & rear bumper guards, reverse lights, windshield sunvisor, rocker moldings & front fender rock guards, dual spotlights& rearview mirrors, BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial wide whitewalltires measuring 225/75R15, full polished wheel covers, fenderskirts, rear continental kit, stainless steel door handle paintprotector & gas tank door paint protector, interior Guide dashreflector, rear assist handles, and more! This finish work to makethe shine on all metal body work far just exceeds just theexterior, and carries into the inner fender wells, radiatorsurround, firewall, inner jams of the hood, trunk, & doors, andmore! A true testament to the character of the nearly rust-freeCalifornia foundation, the expertise of the restorer Larry Evensonduring this frame-off restoration, and the level of quality theyset out from the beginning to achieve with a car that was fullydisassembled properly! The gaps and body fitment are second tonone. The entire frame was media-blasting to bare metal beforebeing fully painted with all new body mounts, fully rebuiltsuspension system front and rear, all new braking system withstainless steel lines, fresh hoses, etc., and all new fuel systemstarting with new gas tank, stainless steel lines, new electricfuel pump, filters, and more! Under the hood rests a fullyoverhauled and correct 255ci L-head V8 with auxiliary oil filter, original 2-barrel carburetor & factory air cleaner. Thetransmission shifts with ease and engages smoothly through allgears. The exhaust now breaths through new aluminized dual exhaustpipes with resonating mufflers. Keeping everything cool is a newradiator with an added overflow recovery tank. All of the wireharnesses throughout the car are new, and period correct 6-voltpositive ground, utilizing cloth-covered wiring and a generatorcharging system. The chrome and bright work are equally excellent! All window seals are new as is the door & trunk weather stripping. We feel the results are nothing short of superb, with a showquality appearance that should easily impress all onlookers andevent judges alike! Please feel welcome to call with additionalquestions! We look forward to working with you!
