In 1959, a new Pontiac was born. The new Pontiacs presented aredesigned image that was youthful, sporty and now reached a fullspectrum of new car buyers. The new models were referred to as"Wide Track" meaning they were full size cars that were low andwide. They were powered by a variety of engines and the new carsoutran the majority of their competitors in both sales and racing.For the 1960 model year, Pontiac offered the Catalina, Ventura andBonneville models. The Ventura was a custom trim model that wasonly offered in two body styles-a two door sedan and a four-door,hardtop sedan called the Vista Hardtop. This 1960 Pontiac VenturaVista Hardtop is one of 28,700 built and carried a base price of3,047.00. This example is powered by its original, 389 cubic inchV-8 engine with the factory accessory, four-barrel carburetor-acombination that produces 315 horsepower. It is well equipped withthe four-speed, Hydramatic transmission, power steering, powerbrakes, power windows, tinted glass, two-speed windshield wiperswith washers, factory AM radio, spinner hubcaps and dual exhausts.Since being restored in 2015, this Pontiac has been regularlyserviced and maintained. It has been used sparingly, and, today, isin excellent, overall condition. The body panels are extremelystraight and solid. All four doors fit the body with even gaps andmargins, as does the trunk and rear deck lid. The body lines andcontours are crisp and clear. Looking down the sides of this longand impressive sedan, one notices that the body panels are free ofwaves and distortion. This is really a straight and honest car. Theexterior maroon paint is in excellent condition and shows only themost minimal amounts of wear. The gloss is consistent throughoutand there is no evidence of underlying body issues. The chrome andstainless trim are excellent as well. On the inside, the matching,tri-toned, interior is extremely clean and presents well. Theseats, door panels, carpets, headliner, etc. show no major signs ofdamage or wear. The dashboard is clean and all of the gauges haveclear faces. The glass is clean and clear and the window channelsare in very good condition as well. The engine bay is very originaland extremely clean. It shows the expected signs of use but isgenerally very tidy. Looking underneath, the chassis and drivetraincomponents are very clean and original as well. Upon closeexamination, you can tell that this was always a good car and wasnever subject to abuse or damage. Overall, this is a very cleanexample of a 1960 Pontiac Vista Hardtop Sedan. It is a verydistinctive and appealing body style. The colors and options makethis particular example very attractive and desirable. It reallylooks good from all angles and is ready to be shown or driven withconfidence.
