Represents one of only 682Twelve's built for 1936, and one of the few Coupe Roadsters to evercome to market! After the Great Depression of 1929 had crippledAmerican lifestyle, Packard Motor Car Company of Detroit, MI feltbuyers of their exclusive product line would require more value fortheir money once on showrooms. It was decided that Senior Packard'swould become even more opulent and expensive! Style lines improveddramatically, and the numbered Series models continued as theybegun in 1923. By 1931, adjustable shocks allowed for a new,driver-operated Ride Control system. The Twin Six twelvecylinder-equipped vehicles were simply renamed Twelve's in 1933 andstayed this way through their final year of 1939. With theintroduction of a new medium-priced model, which came to productionin 1935, named the 120 Model, it undeniably saved Packard from asimilar demise ofluxury brands such as Stutz, Marmon, Franklin,Pierce-Arrow, and Duesenberg. This inexpensive Junior option wasbuilt by more modern mass-production standards, while the Seniorcars continued to require slower, handmade traditionalcraftsmanship. Nearly 10 times as many Junior cars would beproduced. Packard continued to be recognized as America'sstrongest luxury brand the world over. For several reasons the1936 model year, named the 14th Series instead of the 13thapparently for superstitious reasons, would become one of the mostdesired among serious Packard collectors. It would be the lastyear for suicide style forward opening doors, solid axle frontends, and availability of wire spoke wheels! Options & features include 17" Chromewire spoke wheels wrapped in Michelin X 7.50R17 XCA Radial tubetype wide whitewall tires, dual side-mounted spare tires with steelcovers and Packard "see-Rite" mirrors, dual sun visors,metal-inlayed wood door caps, Packard Deluxe AM car radio, Packardheater, Ride Control system, dual golf bag doors with key locks,vacuum assisted drum brakes, rear rumble seat with fold out armpads, interior map light, 30 gallon gas tank, and more! Ourgorgeous example showcases a 30-year old restoration that survivedexceptionally well while in the hands of its former Seattlecaretaker of 25 years! Having a proper, professional restorationhold up this well over time supports it was done right the firsttime. The dash wood graining, seat leathers, steering wheel,interior knobs & controls all appear in excellent condition. Theexterior chrome is bright and smooth without and spotting orpitting, while the paint lacquer paint has held up quite well withonly subtle signs of age upon closer inspection. Always garaged,and only driven and the nicest of days during the limited seasonprovided in the Northwest. Today, it continues to be an excellentdriver provided with an electric fuel pump, added Antique, Inc.turn signals, and a battery cut-off under the hood for times ofstorage.
