Few things in life can give you greater exhilaration than experiencing a Turbo-charged Porsche 911. Even the most reserved of men will be giddy after a spirited drive! It is the ultimate in stress relief, as no one can resist smiling after hearing that turbo spool and the waste gates signature howl "pssshhhh". That feeling of your entire body being sucked into the seat with the world outside blurring by your windows is hard to replicate with any other car of that era! Originally introduced to the public in 1976, the 930 as it was dubbed, started a feeding frenzy among speed junkies. Like all good things however, the party was suspended from 1980 until its reintroduction in the states in 1986,when advances in emissions controls allowed its triumphant return to the top of the super car food chain. For those years in between a lucky few investors made efforts to import them into the United States. Turbocharged cars where not without issue however, as most drivers had not experienced such raw power before and sadly many of these beautiful cars ended up on the wrong side of the ditch or worse. So finding any well maintained, straight car today can be like finding a needle in a haystack.
We are quite pleased to offer this 1985 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe. Dressed in its factory color-coded Prussian Blue Metallic Paint over the original Blue Leather interior, this beauty survives with on 62,944 original miles. Powered by its original, numbers matching 3.3L Horizontal 6and 4-speed transmission, this German-born Turbo is rated at 300 horsepower with 317 ft lbs of torque. Options include air conditioning, electric sliding sunroof, power windows, limited-slip differential, Sport seats with electric height adjustment, rear window wiper, rear defrost, VDO instrumentation, and Alpine AM/FM/Cassette radio. This 4 owner example found its way into the United States immediately after production entering through Texas in August 1985, then on to its first registered owner in North Carolina. It stayed with this owner until 1994 before coming to the Midwest through 2009 having two owners during that span.
The most recent owner also hailed from North Carolina who has enjoyed this car for the past 7 years. While in his care, he made some care full bolt-on upgrades through his preferred service center, C&C Eurosports LLC located in Greensboro, NC. It was there at C&C Eurosports where their experts added an upgraded Andial intercooler and slightly larger K29 Turbo-charger with controller, VDO boost gauge in place of the factory clock. Additionally, new Elephant Racing poly-bronze front & rear control arm bushings, low friction control arm mounts, rear mono-ball trailing arms cartridges, triangulated front strut bar brace, steering rack spacer bump steer kit were all installed. Brand new C/V joints & boots, new rear-torsion bar, fully adjusted ride height, and corner-balancing were completed after the installation of new 18" Veloce 3.6 one-piece wheels wrapped with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 225/40ZR18 up front and 265/35ZR18 at the rear. Earlier that same year, the transmission had already received a brand new shifter fork, short-throw shifter with MOMO shift knob, clutch kit, flywheel, pilot bearing, clutch cable assembly by C&C at approximately 40,000 miles.
The original Porsche intercooler and K27 Turbocharger are included with the sale. It retains the original German owner's manual with delivery information filled out along with cover, a new USA owner's manual, some export cards originally attached to the windshield, one key, original hood sticker matching the owner's manual copy, factory body tags & VIN stamps, factory unused spare, jack, etc. This car is a must have for collectors and driver enthusiast alike!
