1978 rolls royce silver shadow ii

Terrific color combination and in wonderful mechanical condition! One of the nicest we have driven! Fully function air conditioning and all power options, newer whitewall tires, and tinted windows! A whole lot of car for the money! As the predecessor of the very popular Silver Cloud, the newly designed Silver Shadow was a testament of Rolls-Royce trying to avoid criticism of not changing with modern construction technology. This led them to create the first Rolls Royce on a monocoque chassis. Exterior styling cues remained remarkably intact, but the new construction allowed for roomier cabins and more cargo space. Built from 1965 through 1980, the Silver Shadow became the Silver Shadow II with improved disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, and subtle exterior upgrades in 1977. The Shadow II ended construction in 1980 with totals of only 8,425 units produced.

We are very proud to offer this 1978 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II Saloon finished in classic Black over Tan hides with a matching tan exterior pinstripe. This elegant car represents the peak of Rolls-Royce production and USA import. Our particular example represents a highly desired color combination and remains in wonderful mechanical condition. Features include the 6.75L V8 engine mated to the original General Motors Turbo-Hydromatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission, functional air conditioning, power seats, power locks, power windows, original Blaupunkt AM/FM radio in stock location (new Alpine CD player professionally installed in lower dash), Jaeger dash instrumentation, passenger vanity mirror, remote drivers mirror, and Goodyear Eagle GA 1 whitewall tires to name a few! This particular example hails from the former owner of 8 years who took remarkable time to care for the vehicle as a professional mechanic by trade. More importantly, he took time to drive his treasure and exercise it regularly which we feel is why it continues to operate and perform so incredibly well today!

Showing 115,746 miles upon first presentation to the Museum, today now shows 115,853 miles. The a/c continues to blow remarkable cold, all power features are functional, and the car rides the road with quiet ease just the way you would expect from a luxury Rolls-Royce of the late 1970s. It maintains all original Triplex window glass throughout, retains the original owners manual, and tire changing equipment. The interior leathers are original and have been re-dyed at some point, but continue to service the car as a suitable driver. The dash wood showcases typical cracks, but the door garnishes and inlays remain remarkable! The exterior paint has been refinished and continued to show very well as these pictures indicate, but closer inspection will highlight typical age and small touch-ups here and there. It has been recently serviced to include fresh oil/filter, and driven over 100 miles without fault. We feel this is a remarkable opportunity to own an example of the worlds most elegant, truly hand built luxury vehicles for a small fraction of what they cost new today! Please feel free to call with questions or to schedule a chance to view the vehicle in person.
