1931 hudson 8 rumble seat 3 window

Very rare 2-door Rumble Seat Coupe that retains original, factory components that has been properly restored cosmetically! Retains original date-coded 8-cylinder drivetrain, features & accessories, and continues to operate wonderfully! Showing only 61,000 miles on the odometer and finished in a very complimenting color combination! The Hudson Motor Car Company was established in 1909 by eight Detroit businessmen to bring a mid-scale luxury vehicle to market. Originally fitted with a balanced six cylinder engine that performed so well, sales lead the company to be the third best-selling car by 1929! A huge feat considering the top two were Ford and Chevrolet. This led to the new 218.8ci Flathead Straight 8 cylinder engine introduced in 1930 to help them continue to pursue prospective buyers. Its block and crankcase were cast as one unit, fitted with two overhead cylinder heads. The crankshaft was balanced like the Super Six engine they had tremendous success with. This involved 5 main bearings and 8 integral counterweights. It produced an incredible 80 horsepower that would have been very impressive for its day!We are very excited to offer this 1931 Hudson Eight 3-window Rumble Seat Coupe finished in very attractive Royal Blue with Gloss Black fenders & roof, and Red accent body pinstripe. Under the hood lies its original, date coded 219ci Straight 8 engine (stamped #51936) mated to a 3-speed transmission with free-wheel feature, and 4.27:1 rear axle. Features were numerous on the Hudson 8 lineup and included a dual brake system incorporating the mechanical emergency brake to allow all four wheels to help in stopping power, rear rumble seat, 10-spoke wood wheels wrapped in 5.25/5.50-18 4-ply tubed tires, pop-out front windscreen, dual cowl vents, manually operated hood vents, roll-down rear window, hood ornament, windshield visor, E.A. Laboratories hot water heater, interior dome light, and more! Our example retains its original date-coded drivetrain throughout including the Marvel E-type carburetor with heat control system, proper 1931 heads, engine splash pans, Warner free-wheeling transmission, factory Hudson Super Built steel body with brass body tag, McCord radiator, and more! The only modern contributions include an electronic fuel delivery system and aftermarket hood assist handles. This wonderful Hudson 3-window was located in a Nashville, TN collector where it was properly treated to a cosmetic restoration and continued to show exceptionally well today. It starts easily and runs just great! We cannot find another like it anywhere on the market and consider this a very unique opportunity to a pre-war vehicle collection! Please call with questions or schedule a chance to view in person!
