Very well appointed Corvette fitted with a 327ci V8, 4-speed manual transmission, and two-tone paint in Roman Red/ White coves! Cosmetically restored in 2010 with upgraded ignition system and carburetion! Fitted with brand new radial whitewall tires in December 2019! Splendid cruiser that really turns heads!
The Corvette received a face-lift for 1961 which cleaned up the front fascia dramatically. The heavy “teeth” style grill of the previous years was replaced with a tradition mesh screen. And the forward headlight bezels were now body color. Those simple changed provided a new, sporty elegance to the front, and a four light rear tail panel would define the Corvette from many years to come! For many collectors, it's the two-tone paint option that highlights these incredible body lines that makes them so desirable. It would be the last Corvette until 1981 that could be ordered with such a distinction.
We are very pleased to offer this 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible finished in Roman Red/ Ermine White coves over Black Vinyl interior with White convertible soft top. Powered by an early generation 327ci V8 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and 3.36 Posi-Traction rear axle, this beautifully tuned Corvette has no trouble navigating the open-road! Options include heat/defrost, fully polished wheel covers, brand new Coker Classic wide whitewall radial tires measuring 205/75R15, original pushbutton Wonderbar AM radio (hidden Pioneer CD player with visible XM radio controls), upgraded speaker boxes tucked underneath the rear convertible top deck, and added seatbelts.
This vehicle comes from Oklahoma ownership most recently where it was maintained and enjoyed by a Corvette enthusiast. The engine residing under the hood is a September 6th, 1961 date-coded 327ci/250hp replacing the original 283ci V8 power plant. According to our chassis number, our vehicle was built towards the end of production around June 7th, 1961. It makes for a splendid driver, and allowed the flexibility to make some modern improvements to include a HEI ignition system, upgraded Edelbrock 600cfm carburetion with electric choke, 7-finned aluminum valve covers, clutch fan assembly, etc. all while maintaining a very stock appearance. It starts up remarkably well and hits the road with confidence!
The restoration was completed in approximately 2010 to include all new exterior paint while retaining what appears to be an all original interior. The front bumpers were re-chromed in the process, while the rear bumpers remain original and in fine condition. More recently, it received new side cove trim moldings, refinished wheels, new Coker radial tires, exhaust mufflers, rear axle bump stops & straps, and fresh engine service with oil & filter. If you are looking for a high quality driver that really turns heads, performs like it should, and doesn't come with the insistence of protecting a number's matching investment, this Corvette is for you! A terrific Corvette in all respects! Please call with questions or to schedule your chance to view it in person!
