Details about this Classic Corvette For Sale:
Available now at the St. Louis Car Museum is a 1965 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible finished in Rally Red (factory code U-U) over Red/White Vinyl (factory code 443), this restored Corvette is heavily optioned! The car is powered by a NOM 396ci big block (CTX suffix code) fitted with a Holley 750cfm carb atop an Endurashine aluminum intake. This is mated to a Muncie M20 wide-ratio 4-speed transmission with a precision Hurst Competition Plus shifter, and 3.70 Posi-Traction rear axle ratio. It's equipped with side exhaust, power steering, power-assisted brakes, Soft-Ray tinted windshield, faux wood steering wheel, Delco AM/FM radio with power antenna, working electric clock, and cast aluminum bolt-on wheels with Hankook Kinergy ST 205/75R15 whitewall tires. These wheels are later-generation 1967-design for added safety, not to mention easier to swap for a custom wheel set at your own discretion.
The car is currently owned by a collector who has stored it in the Hilton Head, SC area since 2019. The collector has been the owner since 2014 while residing in the St. Louis, MO area. The history of this car states it was frame-off restored by specialist Don Davis, likely dating back to the early 2000s, and driven sparingly ever since. The odometer was believed to be zero-timed at the time of completion and reads just 1,159 miles today, of which approximately 65 miles were added by the seller during short drives for occasional exercise. For this reason, he has elected to sell it to someone ready to truly enjoy it for what it was intended. It was always stored indoors in a climate-controlled facility and serviced professionally as necessary.
It shows signs of minor wear from coastal exposure, with some aging to a few metal surfaces. The most noticeable being bare metal components under the hoo,d and the chrome front separator bar showing fatigue. The optional appointments make this car a true pleasure to drive, particularly having power steering and brakes. It continues to present very well as a genuine, factory-appointed original Corvette L78 despite having a NOM 1970 date-coded 396ci/350-horsepower engine under the hood, while continuing to start and drive with absolute ease! The car was carefully restored, upgraded tastefully, and maintained to be driven. The next owner will have a blast doing just that in this piece of American history! Please don't hesitate to ask any additional questions!

History of Chevrolet's Corvette model:
The 1965 Corvette continued the success of the mid-year Sting Ray with subtle changes. The hood vents were removed, the trio of fender vents now effectively reduced engine heat, and the wheel covers were redesigned. New for 1965 was a 396ci/425hp big block that essentially replaced the more expensive 327ci/375hp Fuel Injected motor. Also new were standard 4-wheel disc brakes that had an estimated life of 57,000 miles for the front and almost double for the rear. It proved to be a successful year, and Chevrolet sold 23,562 examples!
