The success of the mass-produced Ford Model T will forever be recorded in history books. With its launching in 1908, it was built in multiple styles through 1927. With generational design changes along the way, the Model T confidently sold each year as a practical, inexpensive vehicle to almost any working individual, with plenty of parts and service centers located just about anywhere you needed. Henry Ford continued to produce America's affordable Model T at a rapid pace into the late 1920's, averaging over 1 million units each year! The simplicity in design, along with nine model choices to choose from, made Ford an easy choice for budget conscience buyers. In many applications, specialty bodies were supplied by independent coach builders to suit individual client requirements, especially in the commercial market.
We are proud to offer this 1927 Ford Model TT Delivery Truck. It comes finished in classic Green with Black fenders and hood, with a matching black standard vinyl interior. Powered by its April 1927 date-coded 177ci inline 4-cylinder engine producing 20 factory rated horsepower with a top speed of around 42mph, mated to a 2-speed planetary transmission and auxiliary Ruckstell 4-speed rear axle. Features include 12-spoke wood wheels wrapped in Bedford front and Denman rear tubed tires, brass hub caps, auxiliary spring loaded front axle, interior map light (in-op), driver side rearview mirror, upgraded 4-blade cooling fan, opening drop-style side window glass, electric horn, Ford Model 540 oil wick cowl lamps (one with clear lens and one red), rear STOP script taillamp, front fender bar brace, and matching FORD scripted fluted headlight lenses. The rear bed is extremely well-constructed with rod iron supports, high bed sides, solid wood floor, and folding rear tailgate.
This Model TT has been stored indoors for many years by the previous owners. Upon purchasing this 1-ton chassis Delivery Truck from an estate in May 2024, we performed a complete, comprehensive servicing to bring it back to roadworthy status once again. This included pulling the engine and transmission for disassembly and replacement of the magneto wheel in place of a modern oil slinger system, new Jack Rabbit clutch kit from Snyders with Kevlar bands, clutch spring, release bearing, resealing of the engine and transmission mating points, transmission oil screen & gaskets, fresh oil, replacement of the battery, replacement oval fuel tank with straps and mounting hardware, new petcock valve and filter screen, new intake manifold and gasket, new exhaust manifold & gasket, freshly rebuilt Holley NH carburetor with choke wire, new spark plugs, along with cleaning up some various wiring with brand new ignition switch & keys. It runs extremely well and should be a fun investment for anyone looking for an attractive, early Model T delivery truck!
This long-stored Model TT has survived quite beautifully while resting inside a weather protected facility, and it is now available for sale for the first time in many decades. It was last in the care of the Martin Luepker family here in St. Louis from 1996 until our acquisition in 2024. Prior to that, it was part of the Thomas Brown family collection from July 1974. History prior to these owners is unknown with exception to a Missouri state inspection sticker still affixed to the windshield dated June 1973 from a St. Charles inspection station. This vehicle will be sold on Bill of Sale only.
Model T Fords were the beginning of affordable passenger vehicles, not to mention practical commercial trucks for many start-up companies. They are a testament to simple yet faithful engineering contributing to why they are still around today! Many Vintage Ford clubs are dedicated to registering and keeping track of these pieces of automotive history. Thank you for your interest and please contact us directly for more information or stop by our museum for a tour!
