There can be little doubt that the Ford Mustang is one of the most important vehicles in all automotive history, a fact that is proven again and again at car shows and auctions the world over. On March 9th,1964 Lee Iacocca made himself an eternal place in American automotive history with the release of a car that would reshape the design and performance expectations for all automobiles sold within the North American market within the next sixty years—the Ford Mustang! The Mustang was a purpose-built performance vehicle with its sights set on creating a new niche within the automotive sphere with a focus on targeting sports car minded individuals with a budget. And right from the start, the Ford Mustang was a huge success! Today, they can be had in hundreds of different styles and performance variants.
Riding the wave of its success in the first two years, Ford released the slightly redesigned 1967 Mustang that was wider and slightly longer, with new performance engines as well as new interior and trim options. Featured here is a two-owner 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible finished in its factory appointed shade W- Clearwater Aqua over 6K- Luxury Aqua Bucket seat interior with a white convertible top. It is nicely optioned with a 289ci V8 engine, C4 3-speed automatic transmission, center console, power steering, power convertible top, Exterior Décor Group, Interior Décor Group, Tilt-Away steering column, AM push button radio, courtesy lights, remote driver's side mirror, 14” wheels with wire spoke covers and 1” whitewall tires, trunk-mounted luggage rack, day/night mirror, and carpeted floor mats!
Sporting a nicely executed, older restoration with a detailed interior and engine compartment, this highly sorted driver is perfectly suited for weekend cruising and local car shows! This car was owned, cared for, and restored by the original owner of 51 years and a proud member of the Mustang Club of America! At around 67,000 miles, the car received cosmetic and mechanical restoration to include new interior carpet & seat upholstery, bare metal repaint of the exterior, new convertible top & boot, along with rebuilding the engine & transmission. It has since added approximately 25k miles to the odometer, including participation at the MCA 40th Anniversary Celebration in Nashville, TN in 2004 being driven over 800 miles round trip! It would trade hands to the former, second owner in 2018, who would maintain it since. It now shows 91k miles on the odometer which is said to be actual.
Since arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum, we elected to replace the upper front control arm assemblies, rear leaf spring bushings & shocks; completely rebuild the braking system with new hoses, lines, wheel cylinders, drums & shoes, hardware, E-brake cables, & new brake fluid throughout; new front wheel bearings, races, & seals; reseal the transmission with new pan gasket, pinion seal, output shaft seal, shifter seal, & new neutral safety switch; replaced the thermostat, thermostat housing, & gasket; as well as fresh engine fluids with new oil & air filter.
The original door tag remains with the car highlighting its factory attributes accompanied by two inner fender stamps located on each side of the engine compartment. It has been upgraded with an Edelbrock Performer 289 aluminum intake and Holley 4-barrel carburetor rated at 600cfm to bring the factory rated 200hp to approximately 225 horsepower, as well has Pertronix ignition and a chrome export brace. A Sony AM/FM/Cassette radio is concealed inside the glove box for greater options in music choices, likely installed sometime in the late 1980's.
It will come with a clean Missouri title, Marti Auto Works report, and 3 sets of keys. This special-optioned Mustang represents one of just 4,848 convertibles ordered with the Luxury interior in 1967 making it a rare investment indeed! Moreover, just 163 were built in this matching Aqua color combination! Overseas appreciation for these great cars is increasing every day and demand is quickly starting to outpace the supply. Prices for Mustangs will only continue to rise, and savvy buyers will seize the opportunity to acquire one before they continue to get out of reach. Please feel free to call with questions or schedule your chance to review this wonderful Mustang driver in person!
