Gorgeous, rust free original Land Cruiser! Great color combination, numbers matching engine, power steering, 4-speed manual transmission, and factory air conditioning! Sweet up and coming investments for truck collectors!
Launched in 1960 as the Land Cruiser Model 40, its worldwide success carried for many decades, but for enthusiasts in the United States, the end came about in 1984. Only mild changes to the Toyota FJ were integrated over the years, mostly consisting of better safety and convenience items. This included a roll bar being standard equipment by 1974, ambulance rear doors in 1975 along with larger more powerful 4.2L engine, front disc brakes in 1976, with 1979 options that included power steering and air conditioning, with better 3.70:1 highway axle gearing as standard.
Bringing the arguably best package together by 1979, we couldn’t be more excited to offer this 1982 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. Finished in classic Yellow over Gray vinyl interior, this authentically restored example is in remarkable, rust free condition throughout! Under the hood lies its original, numbers matching 2F-coded 4.2L Inline 6 cylinder engine making 135 factory-rated horsepower & 210 lb. ft. of torque connected to the fully synchromesh 4-speed manual transmission and 3.70:1 rear axle. Options on this unit are plenty starting with the always favored power steering, air conditioning, AM/FM/CD Stereo radio in factory location, padded dash, power front disc brakes, rear mounted spare, AISIN locking front hubs, dual outside mirrors, front bumper hooks, locking gas door, rear folding jump seats, front & rear rubber bumberettes, rear step, and tow hitch.
The cosmetic restoration on this FJ40 was completed not long ago and was used rather sparingly ever since. This included refinished exterior paint and new interior upholstery. All new stainless steel body hardware, polished stainless hood & windshield hooks were used. Recent improvements also included new Gabriel shocks at all four corners, new air filter, fresh engine oil & filter, fully greased suspension, new pinion seal, knuckle seal, Birfield seal, hub seals, complete U-bolt set, new fuel filter, and oil sending unit. Our example doesn’t disappoint once in the driver’s seat either. Without any drivetrain modifications from factory stock, it continues to start, run, and drive exactly as intended. Gratified further with instant throttle response, smooth clutch engagement through all gears, super confident brakes, well balanced Pirelli Scorpion MTR 31×10.5R15LT tires, and fully functional accessories including the a/c system, it becomes a very tough truck to criticize going down the road! Included with this unit will be the original jack & crank handle, and a clear Missouri title. Please feel free to call with more questions or make arrangements to visit our showroom in person.
