It could be ordered on the 300 Deluxe 2-dr Sport Coupe, Malibu 2-dr Sport Coupe, Malibu convertible, as well as the El Camino.  The SS396 equipment package included a choice of Turbo-Jet 396 V8 with either 325 (L35), 350 (L34), or 375 (L78) horsepower.  In addition, the package included these extra features; power disc brakes, 7″ wide sport-styled wheels, SS emblems trimmed the exterior front & rear, and inside on the dash and doors, twin-domed hood and beefed up full coil suspension complimenting the look and ride quality!

This wonderfully optioned 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Hardtop comes finished in Garnet Red (52 52) over code correct Medium Red (788) Bucket Seat interior and matching White body side stripe. Options include numbers matching 396ci/325hp V8 engine, floor-shifted TH400 automatic transmission, bucket seats with center console, power steering, 12-bolt rear end with factory 3.07 gearing (code CX), power disc brakes, factory air conditioning (blows cold), 14” Styled SS wheel wrapped in period Goodyear Custom Wide Tread F70-14 belted tires, all Soft Ray glass, dual outside mirrors, carpeted SS396 floor mats, and Custom Auto Sound AM/FM/Aux radio with rear mounted antenna!

This work was professionally completed by Central Ohio Engine Rebuilders, Inc based in Columbus, OH.  All original engine components will be included with the sale of the car.  The transmission was fully serviced by Corvette Corner in Columbus, OH in 2008.  It has been very nicely detailed throughout maintaining a very stock appearance overall.  The drivetrain restoration, repaint, fresh weather stripping, all new seating upholstery & padding, interior carpet among other vital components were completed in 2005 while residing in Westerville, OH and has accumulated 2,850 miles since and continues to perform wonderfully!

This SS396 maintains its original transmission tag bearing code of CC-69 reflecting a correct 325 horsepower Super Sport designated transmission, and a date-coded 12-bolt rear axle of A 6 9 (January 6th, 1969) with SS396-CX code axle ratio.  According to our cowl tag, this example was officially built the 3rd week of January (01C) of 1969.  All equipment matches the included Protect-O-Plate for validation.  We couldn’t be more confident of the originality of this Kansas City-built SS396/325hp Chevelle.  It sold new from Roy Hughes Chevrolet in Bartlesville, OK in February 1969, and later made its way to Indiana.  One prior cosmetic restoration was said to have been completed in 1988, then a mechanical restoration while in the care of an Ohio owner in 2005.  It will come complete with spare tire resting in the trunk with cover, rubber mat along with all tire changing equipment, and two sets of keys.  Please feel free to call with additional questions, or schedule a chance to review this wonderful muscle car in person.  Thanks for looking!
